Those words hit Maja like a sharp knife, piercing her heart.
While Neil was comforting Cristina, he was getting ready to pat his daughter on the shoulder

She let go of her hand that was touching her cheek.
“Im leaving Just take care of Tricia when she wakes up.”
She turned to leave, but heard Cristina sneer, “You finally show your true colors, right? Tricla hasn’t even left the emergency room yet, and you’re In such a hurry to leave. I bet you wish she never comes out, then the Pennyfeather family only has you as a daughter, right?”

Neil finally snapped He thought she had crossed the line.
“She’s still angry, don’t take her words to heart…” Then he comforted Maja!
Maja laughed sarcastically. “Every if I say I hope Tricia’s okay, I don’t think anyone in the Pennyfeather family would belleve me. As for the slap, I’ll take it, but this is the last time.”
With that, she stepped into the elevator without a moment’s hesitation.
As soon as the elevator door closed, Cristina pointed tremblingly to where Maja had just stood.
“Look at her attitude, she doesn’t respect you at all!”
Nel sighed.
“The Raymonds sent a message, they’re willing
to
help us with the second round of financing, Maja secured that She can be willful at times, but as an adult, you can’t just go around hitting her.”
Cristina snorted, apparently thinking she hadn’t hit hard enough.
Exiting the elevator, Maja’s heart hurt more than her face.
She never cared about Cristina’s opinion of her, but now her father’s scale was tipping heavily.

She was in a hurry when she stepped out of the elevator, and bumped into someone around the corner, stepping back a few paces.
Without looking up to see who it was, she muttered, “Sorry.”
With that, she kept her head down and tried to leave.
But then she heard a voice from behind, “Penny?”
Maja froze, turning to see it was Maureen Raymond, Ryan’s mother.
Maureen was dressed in an appropriate suit, carrying a Hermes bag, and looked somewhat surprised at the swelling on Maja’s face..
“Who hit you? Did you and Ryan have a fight?”
Feeling down already, encountering Maureen only made her more nervous.
Should she tell Maureen the truth now that Ryan wasn’t there?
Otherwise, when things get more complicated, it’ll be hard to explain.

Before she could finish, Maureen took her hand and led her into a room, asking the doctor to apply some medicine to her cheek.
With others around, Maja didn’t feel comfortable saying anything more, only feeling more pressure.

Her personal doctor was unavailable to deliver her regular herbs today. She was going to have someone else deliver it, but since she was passing by this hospital, she decided to pick it up herself. She didn’t expect to meet Ryan’s girlfriend in such a sorry state.
Taking out her phone, she tried to call her son, but couldn’t get through.
He was probably partying with his friends again.
She called lan instead.
“lan, have someone track Ryan’s location, he’s really crossed the line.”
lan glanced at the night outside, puzzled, “What has Ryan done now?”
“He actually hit Penny, I really didn’t expect him to do it to a girl!”
