Maja was about to choke when she heard Maureen’s words while surrounded by a doctor She was about to speak when the doctor accidentally brushed against her injured cheek, causing her to yelp in pain This only made Maureen angrier
“lan, get him home in ten minutes. I’m going to give him a piece of my mind today!”
lan stood in front of the hotel’s floor to–ceiling windows
Ryan hit Penny? No way
“Is there a misunderstanding here?”
“Penny’s face is swollen, with five clear finger marks, what misunderstanding could there be? Ryan has really let me down.”
Far away in the bar, Ryan sneezed amidst the deafening music, feeling a chill on the back of his neck.
lan wondered, did she get slapped again?
Maja finally had a chance to speak, and she quickly said,
“It’s not Ryan Ryan is nice, he wouldn’t hit me.”
Maureen paused, really?
“Are you defending him because you are afraid that I will punish him?”
“It really wasn’t him”
“Then who hit you?”
“My family”
Maureen looked sympathetic, relieved that it wasn’t Ryan who hit her.
“As long as it’s not him, I can breathe easy. Here’s my number, you write it down. If Ryan ever treats you badly, you let me know.”
Maja hesitated. She and Ryan were just pretending to be a couple, but now she had no chance to refuse Maureen.
Maureen hadn’t hung up the phone yet.
“lan, it’s all good, I’m hanging up.”
Maja worried that if lan said another word, he would expose her and Ryan’s relationship. She would feel even more awkward face–to–face with Maureen. Thankfully, lan didn’t say anything.
After her injury was treated, Maja quickly stood up.
“I have things to deal with at home, I need to go.”
“Sure, if there’s anything you can’t handle, you can call me. Or tell Ryan, he’s your boyfriend, he should help you
Maja managed a smile, feeling like her lie was growing bigger and bigger like a snowball.)
“Okay, thank you.”
Back in the car, Maja sat in the driver’s seat, debating whether to tell Ryan to resolve this issue sooner.
But no one answered her call.
She had no choice but to return to her apartment.
Her apartment was seldom visited, except for occasional visits from Carol. It was usually very quiet.
Maja turned on her computer and edited several pre–prepared plans Into a document, then sent it off.
lan didn’t reply, which was expected.
The next morning, Maja looked in the mirror to confirm that the marks on her face had disappeared, and then drove to the art school at Solstice College.
The art school at Solstice College was considered the pinnacle of domestic art education. Every year, the school held an art exhibition, Inviting industry professionals to participate, including Investors from Solstice College.
She parked the car and just got out.
Sandy, wearing high heels and carrying a fancy tote bag, walked side by side with a young man about 25.
As she passed Maja, she suddenly stopped and raised an eyebrow.
“It’s you”
Maja frowned, not immediately recognizing who she was.
Sandy sneered, taking in Maja’s prim and proper attire, before stepping back.
“So, you had a fling with lan and got nothing out of it?”
That kind of thing was just for money, right? As a result, she still looked so poor now, It seemed that her service was not done well.
Maja finally remembered that this was the woman she met in the hotel that day.
She curved her lips into a smile and said to Sandy, “Mr. Raymond said it was too much trouble to pay each time, so he decided to settle it all at the end of the year.
“You!”
Was this an implication that lan still wanted to continue this relationship with her?
