At hospital, Jonathan was lying on the bed in the emergency room, shirt off, letting the doctor tend to his wounds. 

“Jonathan, how’re ya holdin‘ up?” Josiah was the last to arrive, his voice filled with uitency on he entered the ER. 

Jonathan instinctively looked over Josiah’s shoulder, but no one else came in. The sudden sting of antiseptic solution jolted him the pain seemed to pierce through his body. He winced and then hung his head. 

Charlie said nonchalantly. “Doc’s patching him up, and they’ll run some tests afterwards.” 

“Oh!” Josiah cast a womed glance at the hospital bed. 

Those who didn’t go to the police station showed up at the hospital. They were sitting outside the ER. Charlie went out and told Andrew and the rest to go home, there was no need for everyone to be here 

Still feeling the aftershock, Andrew said in a low voice, “We owe it to Jonathan and Estelle today. Charlie will update us on Jonathan’s condition in the group chat” 

“Don’t sweat it!” Charlie clapped Andrew on the shoulder, Everyone go home!” 

It was then that everyone slowly dispersed. 

Charlie turned to look at Josiah, “You should go and keep Amiee company, I can hold the fort here” 

“No need, she left with Estelle, I’ll stay here.” Josiah said immediately. 

Charlie glanced at the ER, murmuring. “Estelle didn’t say she was coming?” 

Josiah shook his head, “No.” 

Charlie sighed lightly and tumed to leave. 

When Estelle got home, she took a shower first. Only when she undressed did she noticed a slight scratch on her arm. She rinsed the wound under the shower, the pain spreading like needle pricks. 

She showered for a long time before heading out Dressed in her pyjamas, Estelle sat at the desk reading a book. She had taken a gap year to travel before finishing college, and she was considering going back to school these days. 

At eleven o’clock, her phone lit up, indicating a new message on WhatsApp. 

Estelle looked at the phone, then after a while, picked it up and opened it. 

It was a message from Josiah, [Estelle, Jonathan’s injuries are pretty bad, but no internal damage, don’t worry!] 

Looking at the message on her phone, Estelle slowly typed. [Got it, take good care of him.] 

Before she could send it, she hesitated and slowly deleted the words one by one, leaving just one word,

She put down her phone, glanced at the time, and went to bed. 

The next day, Estelle went to work as usual.

Yvonne was taken aback. Without another glance at her, Estelle turned and left. 

The whole day was incredibly busy. By the time she got home, it was almost dark.
