Chapter 193
Estelle looked up in surprise, “Weren’t you going to see Mr. Anderson?”
Jonathan lifted her chin with his hand and smiled lightly, “I was just joking. He spilled the wine, accidentally splashing it on me.”
He meant to take a shower after coming back but didn’t see Estelle and got worried, forgetting about the shower
Estelle just went “Oh” and then lay back down on his chest, “Did he have any urgent matters?”
“No biggie!”
The two casually chatted, and even if they didn’t talk, there’d be no awkwardness. The sunshine gradually became intense, and Jonathan pulled half of the curtains, making the light immediately soft and warm.
Estelle thought this was the best day of the summer.
In the afternoon, Schilder found out that Baldrick was injured, so he brought his wife along to visit him.
Baldrick’s head was wrapped in white gauze, his face a bit pale, and he said with a faint smile, “I’m fine, I just missed a step on the stairs when I was going downstairs.”
Mrs. Macy asked with concern, “Have you seen a doctor? Do you need to go to the hospital for some tests?”
Baldrick said. “The doctor has already come, and said that it’s nothing serious, and I just need to rest for a few days.”
Schindler said kindly, Then you take good care of yourself. It’s not urgent to fulfill our cooperation.”
“Im sorry!” Baldrick apologized with a smile.
Mrs. Macy gripped Winnie’s hand, “Take good care of Mr. Anderson.”
Winnie chuckled lightly. “I will.”
After the Schindler couple left, Baldrick’s face darkened, and because of the blood loss, he looked even worse.
Winnie sat at the bedside and whispered, “Do you want some water?”
Baldnick said with stern expression, “I can’t go out for a few days, so you go to Mrs. Macy more and keep an eye on Jonathan for me.”
Winnie carefully asked, “Did Jonathan cause your injury?‘
Baldrick gave her a cold glance and said, “Don’t ask what you shouldn’t!”
Winnie’s face turned pale, and she lowered her head, “Yes, I know, I’ll watch them.”
Baldrick’s face was gloomy, he muttered, “That bastard Jonathan brought a girl with no background and who knows nothing, but he treasures and spoils her like so much, I really don’t know what he’s thinking?”
Winnie kept quiet, knowing that Baldrick’s words weren’t directed at her.
Baldrick closed his eyes and became increasingly sullen, Jonathan’s been bewitched by the little girl, his focus is not on our cooperation, he’s not a good partner, so I have to kick him out, I won’t let him drag me down!”
Baldrick needed to rest in bed, and Winnie thought it would be too deliberate to go to chat and have afternoon tea with Mrs. Macy at this time, so she waited a day before personally learning to make some pastries with the chef and taking them to see Mrs. Macy.
In the sunroom, Mrs. Macy was looking at pictures, with a brown leather photo album on her lap, slowly flipping through. Seeing Winnie come in, she asked with concern, “Is Mr. Anderson better?”
Winnie nodded, “Much better now. He wanted to eat some pastries and insisted that I make them myself. I spent the whole morning leaming and made lots. I brought some for you to try.”
Mrs. Macy looked at the pastries and nodded, “They look pretty good.”
Winnie’s eyes fell on the alburn and she smiled, “Ma’am, are these pictures of you when you were young?”
Mrs. Macy laughed, “Yes, they are from my childhood, I brought them back from my country especially
“May I have a look?” Winnie asked gently.
