Kya thought for a moment. Til tell Mom, If you like Uncle Charlie, he will buy you cookies.
Charle burst out laughing at this, bending over in laughter
Emily came in seeing the adult and child sitting on the carpet. She didn’t know what Kya had said, but it had Charlie cracking up
Emily paused, she hadn’t seen Charlie laugh like that in a long time
Seeing her, Charlie’s laughter slowly faded.
“Mom Kya shouted, “Uncle Charlie said if you like him, he’ll buy you cookies?
Emily’s eyes widened in surprise, “What?”
Charlie was speechless
Emily quickly explained. “Kya is still young, she may not fully understand what adults say Don’t mind her, Mr. James”
Charlie glanced at her, a smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth, “I think Kya understands more than you do”
Emily was taken aback.
Charlie frowned at her, “What’s up?”
Emily came back to her senses, and quickly said, “It’s almost lunchtime, do you have any plans, Mr. James?”
Charlie answered nonchalantly. “Nope”
“So, should I cook or order takeout?”
“Cook”
“Okay”
After Emily answered, she turned to leave
Looking at Emily’s retreating figure, Kya shook Charlie’s hand, “Didn’t we agree to make Mom like you? Why are you still being grumpy with her?”
Charlie chuckled, I’m not being grumpy, just giving orders”
Kya suggested, “How about we help Mom cook?”
Charlie thought for a moment, “Okay, for your sake, I’ll give her a hand”
Kya nodded happily.
Emily was taking out ingredients from the fridge to cook. Seeing Charlie and Kya coming over, she quickly said, “It’s not ready yet. Can you please look after Kya a little longer, Mr. James?”
Kya immediately chuckled, “Mom, Uncle Charlie and I are here to help you cook!”
Emily quickly shook her head, “No need, I can handle it myself.”
Charlie didn’t say anything more. He rolled up his shirt sleeves, revealing his lean arms, picked up a vegetable, and asked Emily, Does this need washing?”

“Just tell me what to do next? Charlie asked impatiently
Emily bit her lip lightly, First wash it clean, then peel it.”
Charlie responded with a curt “Hmm,” then turned to wash the vegetable
Kya tugged at Emily’s clothes, “Mom, I want to help toor
Emily handed her a few vegetables to wash
