lan was internally pissed off, but his face was as composed as ever. “I get it.” 

Selena, who was nearby, heard those words but couldn’t refute him due to her concerns about Holden’s health condition.

Man, are you really going to visit Neil?” 

lan paused. He was already standing in the garden. Holden was still in the living room and of course couldn’t hear their conversation. 

His gaze was downcast, and the contours of his face gave off a certain cold demeanor.

Selena breathed a sigh of relief, her voice full of scorn. 

“I saw Neil today, and he looked as fit as a fiddle, not sick at all. I think he’s just causing trouble while your grandpa is home. Don’t let them fool you. Their family loves to play dirty. If you go and see him, you’re just falling into their trap.” 

Taking advantage of the unwell Holden was absolutely intolerable

Although lan didn’t like Maja’s personality, he hadn’t heard of her getting too close with other men in recent years. So he didn’t say anything about Selena’s words.

His chin lifted slightly, his voice indifferent. 

“If my brother hadn’t passed away, you wouldn’t be fussing over me like this. Mom, I’m not my brother’s stand–in. I won’t let you push me around, and I won’t listen to you.” Selena’s face turned pale instantly, her fists clenched. Her lips trembled and her eyes reddened before she managed to speak. 

“lan, is this how you see your mother? Everything I do is for your good 

lan scoffed, “If it weren’t for your ‘good‘, my brother probably would still be alive.” 

Selena nearly fainted, her breath quivered and she couldn’t utter a complete sentence.” 

lan didn’t want to upset her any further, so he softened his tone. “You should go inside. I’m leaving.” 

With that, he strode away from the old house. 

By the time he got back to the car, Jeff was already waiting for him. Seeing lan’s gloomy face in the rearview mirror, he asked.: “Are we going back to the hotel now?” 

lan had been staying in a hotel recently. He lifted his hand to rub his forehead, “Bring some gifts and visit Neil in the hospital tomorrow. 

“Is this Holden’s request?” 

Yeah.” 

Jeff didn’t say anything else and was about to drive to the hotel when he heard lan say, “Let’s go to Rosewood Manor.” 

He was worried about his grandpa’s health, who even kept mentioning Maja during dinner. He was afraid that his grandfather might impulsively go to Rosewood Manor the next day. If he needed to play this game, he naturally needed to avoid any possibilities of being exposed.
