In the evening, Beck got a call from a friend inviting him out for drinks. However, he was worried about Maja’s safety, so he told her, “You need to stay here and rest up, get your strength back before doing anything else. Selena won’t let you off the hook that easy, you need to think about how you’re going to handle her. Otherwise, the minute you step out of here, she might seize the chance to get you back under her thumb.” 

She was no match for the Raymond family on her own. 

Beck arrived at the bar, and was surprised to find lan there that night. 

He raised an eyebrow slightly, then took a seat next to Samuel.. 

Samuel had already reached out to Maja once that night, and she had admitted that she was at Beck’s place. 

So, when he saw Beck, Samuel was instantly filled with jealousy. 

“Mr. Sanders, you really know how to play the field. I wonder what sweet words you have whispered in Penny’s ear to

Samuel saw the smugness in his eyes, and his jealousy bubbled up. 

“She’s been at your villa for two days now, and Mr. Sanders hasn’t brought her out. Are you planning to keep her as a pet? You should know that Penny isn’t that type of woman.” 

Beck held his drink, the corners of his mouth curving slightly.

“I’m not restricting her freedom; she can leave any time she wants. But right now, she doesn’t want to.” 

The place had become quiet, the young folks present there had heard about Penny’s past with lan. Hearing these two men openly discussing her, everyone knew that there would be a show tonight. 

lan’s gaze was locked on Beck, as if he was trying to see right through him. But Beck seemed oblivious. 

lan remained calm on the outside. Only he knew the tumult inside him. 

He drained his drink, feeling a burning sensation from his mouth down to his throat as if he was on fire. 

Tyler, sitting next to him, was scared shitless and hurried to stop him, cursing out loud, 

“That’s pure alcohol, how could you just down it like that?” 

One sip could knock him out, and a full glass could lead to alcohol poisoning, this kind of stuff was meant to be mixed with other drinks. 

Only then did lan realize he’d grabbed the wrong glass. He’d taken a swig of the alcohol meant for mixing with other drinks. No wonder it caused a burning 

sensation. 

He could still hear Samuel and Beck’s conversation, each word pricking at his nerves. 

“Mr. Sanders, you’re not playing with Penny’s feelings, are you? She can’t handle that.” 

“Why would you say that?” 

“She’s had a failed marriage; she probably doesn’t expect much from men. So, Mr. Sanders, don’t get your hopes up, Penny will leave you eventually.” 

Beck fell silent for a moment, then sighed, “True, it breaks my heart to see her lying in bed like that.” 

His words had no other meaning, just stating a fact. Seeing Penny lying in bed these past few days, each time made Beck’s heartache. 

But to others, it sounded like he was hinting at something. 

No sooner had Beck finished than lan stood up, grabbing his collar. 

“Did you touch her?” 

One from the elite Sanders family of North America, the other from the top–notch Raymond family of Greenfield. No one at the scene dared to offend either of them, staying out of their way. 

Only Tyler and Samuel remained at their sides. 

Beck sat on the sofa, maintaining his composure even with lan gripping his collar. 

“Let go of me.” 

Just remembering what the Raymond family had done made him furious. 

Had it not been for him taking Penny away, whether she would have been hurt or not would still be a mystery. Now lan was acting all innocent? 

Tyler was afraid they would really start fighting, which could cause an uproar in the whole of Greenfield. The Sanders family was a top–notch family in North America, if they really fell out, it would be a lose–lose situation. 

“lan, calm down.” 

Before he could finish, lan landed a punch, making Beck’s head turn, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth. 

“Jesus! lan, you dare hit me?!” 

Beck had always lived a life of luxury; he’d never been hit before. 

He immediately retaliated, kicking lan in the stomach. 

Both got heated and, at that moment, drinks were spilled all over the floor.
