Maja had been watching these two and soon figured out that Evelyn seemed to be deliberately playing lovey–dovey right in front of her.
She quirked an eyebrow, pulled her gaze away, and looked back at Mia.
Mia was sitting all by herself on the couch. As soon as she noticed Maja’s gaze, her face turned ghostly pale.
But then, she spotted Fitch entering the hall.
Her confidence returned in a flash, and she hurried over to Fitch.
“Brother, can you sort her out for me?”
Fitch lifted his gaze and noticed Maja sitting there.
Maja was wearing a camisole dress today. It got splashed with some drink, but luckily, the neckline was low, so the spill was mostly on her neck. A quick wipe, and it was no biggie.
“Brother, this woman just made mom look like a fool.”
With that, Fitch started walking towards Maja, with Mia following him closely.
With Fitch around, Mia was back to being haughty.
Fitch was someone everyone in their circle wanted to please. He was the heir to the Haskins family and a talent that the leaders valued.
Money and power were what everyone was chasing after, and clearly, Fitch had both.
Mia hooked her arm into his and aimed a kick at Maja’s leg.
“Hand over that photo now, or my brother won’t let you off.”
Fitch didn’t even have time to stop her. He could only watch as Maja raised an eyebrow.
Mia assumed he was on her side. She was about to kick again when a hand suddenly shoved her.
Mia toppled right into the champagne tower. The several–meter–high tower collapsed in an instant, spilling all over the floor.
She even crushed a few champagne flutes, leaving traces of blood on her arm.
She looked incredulously at the person who pushed her. It was lan.
Mia couldn’t care about anything else now. She burst into loud sobs, instantly attracting everyone’s attention.
Fitch shot lan a glare.
lan, on the other hand, helped Maja up and checked her over. “You okay?”
Fitch just laughed bitterly at the sight.
“You should be asking Mia that.”
“She had it coming.”
lan didn’t deliberately set Mia up. It just so happened that the champagne tower was right next to her. She had it coming.
Maja quickly tugged at lan’s hand, worried that the two might start fighting.
Meanwhile, Mia was still sitting on the floor full of broken flutes and crying, soaked in champagne.
Fitch stepped forward and pulled her up.
But after being threatened by Maja and then being embarrassed in front of everyone, Mia was a complete mess. She couldn’t stop crying. And to make matters worse, she clung to Fitch’s arm.
“Brother, you have to avenge me! Beat her up for me! I want her dead!”
“Shut up!”
If she hadn’t started it by kicking Maja, lan wouldn’t have intervened.
At the same time, Fitch was pissed at lan. He didn’t hold back at all. Now, everyone was watching the Haskins family’s embarrassment. With Mia crying as if she’d suffered a huge misfortune, all the guests‘ attention was on them.
The Haskins family had completely lost face tonight.
“I don’t care! I don’t care! If I’m going down, I’m taking this bitch down with me!”
When people lose their sanity, they’re capable of anything.
Mia picked up a broken champagne flute from the floor and lunged at Maja.
Fitch immediately held her back and snatched the broken flute away.
lan also shielded Maja behind him, coldly watching Mia.
Mia was still struggling, even though Fitch was holding her.
“I’ll kill her! I’ll kill the shameless bitch!”
Mia kept hurling curses at her. Fitch finally landed a punch on the back of her neck, and she collapsed limply.
lan watched all this with a frown and even threw in a sarcastic comment.
“Next time, better not let her out. She’s a disgrace.”
Fitch gritted his teeth, hoisted Mia up, and took a deep breath.
“lan, we’ll talk about this later.”
lan, however, protectively held onto Maja. “Nothing to talk about. She won’t apologize to the Haskins family.”
