Maja was in the hallway, bending over to take off her high heels, when suddenly the lights in the living room dimmed, and someone pushed her against the door.
“Another girl delivered to my doorstep?”
A man’s voice rang in her ear, causing her pupils to shrink.
What the heck was lan doing in her room?
She was about to retort when two fingers were shoved into her mouth, gripping her tongue.
“Mmm mmm.”
Still bent over, trying to take off her shoes, she was now forced to stand straight, unable to turn around, her skirt flipping up.
Maja struggled in vain. Did lan mistake her for a girl delivered to his door?
Right, with so many business partners at the event tonight, such incidents had probably happened often before.
Her tongue hurt from the grip, and she couldn’t utter a word.
That jerk!
lan had her pinned firmly against him, a smirk playing on his lips.
She walked into the wrong room. Who else could she blame?
Maja struggled for a bit, her forehead slick with sweat.
Then she got a hard smack on her butt.
“Playing coy when you’ve practically delivered yourself to me?”
Maja was on the verge of cursing, her chest heaving, her tongue still held captive, unable to retort.
lan was amused to see her flustered, his eyes full of laughter.
Embarrassed about being spanked, huh?
But worried she might kick up a fuss in the morning, he was extra careful this time, even downright gentle.
Not wanting to upset her for too long, in case she had things to do later, like negotiate deals or something.
Two hours later, when he let her go and was about to say something, he got a hard slap on the cheek.
Huh?
Touching his face, he saw her shaking with anger.
“You beast! You jerk!”
Maja was so angry that she turned the lights on. Her cheeks were red, and the anger in her eyes seemed to set her alight.
lan tasted blood in his mouth.
Her skirt was now down, and her eyes were red.
He felt a bit guilty, touching his cheek, but still had the nerve to say,
“One million. Is that enough?”
Maja’s eyes narrowed as she bit her lip, ignoring him and leaving the room.
lan stood in the room, sighing.
After Maja walked out, she had nowhere to go. She didn’t know anyone there, and all the rooms were fully booked.
Carol wasn’t here this time, and she didn’t know who to turn to.
Although lan treated her like a woman who delivered herself to him, she now understood that the two cards must have been arranged by Grandpa Holden.
She went back to the fifth floor, where late–night snacks were made until 6 a.m. She could make do on a couch in a corner for a few nights.
Damn lan!
She was so annoyed, but the cold wind outside helped calm her down, and she decided to go to the deck and enjoy the view.
Tomorrow, she would chat with some male and female celebrities or find some important figures in the film and television industry to get acquainted with.
Feeling the wind outside, Maja felt much better. Just as she was about to go back to the couch, she was suddenly shoved hard by a hand.
Caught off guard, she was pushed over the railing and fell into the river, leaving her high heels on the deck.
Carlene sneered and kicked the high heels down.
People were on every deck, many of them staying up late.
Soon, someone shouted, “Man overboard! Get the lifebuoy!”
“It’s a woman! Quick, the lifebuoy!”
When Maja fell into the water, she felt the surging water rush up, leaving her unable to breathe.
The sound of the ship’s turbine echoed in her ears, and she even felt a force pulling at her legs.
She started to panic, fearing she would be sucked in and torn to pieces.
“Penny?!”
Samuel spotted the figure in the water and immediately jumped in, while a lifebuoy and lifeboat were thrown down.

Maja had swallowed too much water and couldn’t breathe properly due to the impact of the fall. She had now passed out.
Samuel hauled her onto the lifeboat, pressing her stomach continuously.
Maja’s eyes remained closed.
He urgently called to a crew member, “Get a helicopter here ASAP; we need to get her to a hospital!”
The helicopter arrived in less than ten minutes. There was fog on the river, and no one could see clearly who the woman in the water was, only knowing that someone had fallen in.
Carlene watched as Maja was rescued, feeling frustrated. It would be great if she had died.
But it didn’t matter, she had a backup plan.
