lan didn’t respond, and turned off the phone screen, as if he didn’t see Ryan’s inquiry. 

At that moment, Maja had no clue that her painting had found its way into lan’s possession. After finishing the late–night snacks Rita prepared for her, she was ready to go to bed. 

Coco was lying under the bed, its ears twitching now and then. 

Maja reviewed her recent work in her mind before drifting off to sleep. 

Bright and early the next day, she had breakfast and headed off to the construction site. 

The workers moved quickly, perhaps due to the groundwork laid by Samuel. The workers who came this time were very efficient. All Maja had to do was choose the materials for the next phase and make some timely adjustments to the design on–site. 

After making sure the construction was on track, she checked the list of materials again. Apart from the cherry wood flooring from Crystalbrook Valley, she could find all the other materials in the market. Plus, hitting up the owners of the shops she’d gotten to know over the years would get her a good price. 

Now, the cherry wood flooring was a top priority. Once she had her work in Greenfield sorted out, she would need to make a trip to Crystalbrook Valley. 

When Maja was about to drive off, she first checked her phone. She hadn’t visited the Pennyfeather family the previous night and they had called a ton, but this time she had to make her stance clear. 

Otherwise, her father would make the same request next time. 

Now that the second round of financing was a success, the Pennyfeather family could continue running the company as long as they didn’t screw up. If they kept bothering lan, that wouldn’t be worth doing. 

Maja didn’t return the calls, put her phone away, land was about to step on the gas when someone knocked on her window. It was Kim. 

The last time Kim’s affair with Silver was discovered, Silver‘ wife was a hot–tempered woman, and she spread the word about Kim’s actions in the studio, ruining her reputation. Lately, she hadn’t been around Maxwell either. 

Now that Kim was knocking on her car window with a grim look on her face, was she here to stir up trouble? 

Maja rolled down her window and asked coldly, “What do you want?” 

Kim took a deep breath and forced a smile. 

“There’s a meeting at the studio today, my car broke down, and I saw you pulling up. Can you give me a lift?” 

Maja furrowed her brows. She didn’t have a good relationship with Kim. Why would she help her? 

Kim held her head high and said, “Check the work messages. Right now, only you and I haven’t arrived. Maxwell has something important to discuss this time, so you should also go to the scene. So I suggest you help me along the way.” 

After checking the work messages, Maja realized a lot of people were actively chatting. 

She disliked Kim, who had a bad personality and loved to hurt others with her words. But if she really denied her a ride, knowing Kim’s temperament, she’d definitely stir up trouble at the studio later. 

Seeing that Maja agreed to her request, Kim got in the car and said coldly, “Thanks, designer.” 

Her words were clearly sarcastic, but Maja pretended not to hear. 

As the car hit the main road, Kim suddenly asked, “Silver’s wife made everything public about me. I suddenly remembered that you’ve been working with him for three years, so you should’ve known his wife for a while, right?” 

Maja gripped the steering wheel tighter but didn’t respond to her question. 

Kim became more and more agitated, “So you deliberately made me say all those things that night, and then my affair with Silver got discovered by his wife directly, making me to become a joke in everyone’s eyes!” 

Silver’s wife wasn’t easy to get along with. She made Kim’s affairs public on Facebook and it was commented on by many people. Kim felt utterly humiliated. 

Maja chuckled, “Did I make you chase after Silver?” 

You should’ve seen this coming if you did it. 

“A man who cheats is a jerk. If you’re going to be a mistress, you should be prepared for the embarrassment when you’re exposed.” 

“Maja! You lowlife, you haven’t done anything good either! That night while I was with Silver, weren’t you also keeping other rich men company? You even got messed up so badly that you couldn’t walk properly. What right do you have to judge me!” 

Actually, Maja was injured that hight, which was why she was in pain while walking. That had nothing to do with Kim’s situation. 

But in Kim’s eyes, Maja was just a lowlife who flirted with men indiscriminately. How else could she always land such good projects?

“I’ll pull over and you can walk the rest of the way.” 

Before she could finish, Kim grabbed the steering wheel.

The car skidded violently in the middle of the road before crashing into the distance.

A car coming from the opposite direction got hit head–on, and both cars started smoking. 

Kim was still cursing on the side, even scolding in a high–pitched voice like a madwoman. 

That’s when Maja realized that hitching a ride was just a pretext for Kim. What she really wanted was to grab the steering wheel. From the moment she got in the car, she had planned her revenge. 

Luckily, the airbags deployed in time, and both of them remained unharmed. 

Maja was shaking with anger, but she had to kick open the car door to check on the other car. 

When she saw Maureen’s face, her face changed instantly. She hurriedly tried to open the slightly deformed door.
