Chapter 35 Such Arrogance 

Dax and the other members of the Harrison family were standing outside. They were carrying the gifts prepared. They flashed awkward smiles as Lucian opened the door. As they approached him, they were stopped by Lancian. 

“Freya and my daughter are still asleep. Do not disturb them,” Lucian insisted. “Then you should wake them up. I have important matters to discuss with Prey Dax replied. Lucian sneered and said, “Nothing is more important than their rest. If you want to talk to her then wait outside. I’ll let you in after they have their breakfast. If you disturb their rest, I won’t let your in” 

Lucian shut the door after finishing his words. Dax was left in an awkward situation. He wanted to knock again but dared not to do so. “Grandpa, can you believe him? If it weren’t for this project, he wouldn’t dare to act like this I’ll beat him up.” Felix said. 

“Shut your mouth. If you had taken care of it yesterday, we wouldn’t be here right now. You’re useless!” Dax uttered. After Aaron and Felix returned last night, they discussed the matter with Dax until midnight. 

They concluded to have Dax show up personally. The Harrison family would lose the project if they did not carry out their plan. 

Lucian returned to the kitchen and continued to prepare breakfast. “Minnie, come here. Help me fetch two eggs,” Lucian said as he saw her walking out of the bedroom. Minnie nodded and did as he said. 

Lucian could have gotten the eggs himself. He asked for Minnie’s help as he wanted to get closer to her. He could tell that her attitude towards him had softened up for the past few days. It was a step in the right direction. 

Lucian did not blame Minnie for being cold towards him. She had been through a lot and did not experience a joyful childhood. He had to spend more time to amend for being absent. After half an hour, Freya and her parents got out of bed. 

They sat together at the dining table and had breakfast. Annie could not forget about last night. “Lucian, the more I think about it, the angrier I get. Aaron was here to have Freya back to work on the project, yet you asked him to leave. Now they’re gone for good. What should we do?” Annie said. 

“That’s right. We could’ve taken the chance. You’ve just made things more difficult,” Frank said. “Dad, Mom, please stop talking about that. It’s fine if we don’t have this project. We can look somewhere else. Skyline Realty is established. I’m sure there are other projects that we can work on,” Freya said. 

“No one told you that they won’t be back. They arrived around 6 a.m. but I asked them to wait outside. I didn’t want them to disturb your rest. They should still be there by now,” Lucian said. “Nonsense, Annie said. 

Frank knew that his father would never do such a thing. “Cut it out and eat,” Frank said. His phone rang. It was from Dax. “Dad, what’s wrong?” Frank asked as he answered the phone. “Frank, are you awake? Your brothers and I are waiting outside. Could you let us in? It’s unusually cold outside,” Dax replied. 

Freya and her parents were shocked. Lucian smiled as he went to get the door. “Dad, why are you here?” Frank asked. Dax glanced over at Frank and Annie in disdain. “I’m here to discuss important matters. I didn’t expect such arrogance in return. I’ve been waiting outside for one and a half hours,” Dax said. 

“What’s wrong? Are you feeling dissatisfied with waiting? If so, you may leave now. You’re not welcome anyway,” Lucian sneered. Frank and Annie glared at Lucian. They could tell that Dax was about to yell at them. 

However, the unexpected happened. Dax smiled and said, “I didn’t say that I was discontent. It’s our fault for arriving too early and disturbing your rest. My bad I apologize for that.” Freya and the others were bewildered. Lucian had made Dax apologize. 

“Dad, what’s going on?” Frank asked. I’m here to invite Freya to work on the project. Your brother was being rash last night and caused you all to be unhappy. I’m here to apologize for that as well,” Dax said. 

Dax looked at Freya and continued, “Freya, I’ve come to see you. Follow me back and I’ll let you work on the project. Let’s work on it together. What do you think?” Dax had shown up personally. It would be bad for Freya to turn him down. 

As Freya was about to agree with Dax’s proposal, Lucian stepped forward and said, “Dax, it’s fine to let Freya return and work on the project. However, you must agree to two conditions. If you can do that, I have no objections.”
