Simon looked at Amanda without saying anything.
She had a helpless smile and explained, “He thought that I got the child aborted four years ago, so he has no idea the child is still around. I don’t want him to find out because I’m worried he’ll
snatch the child from me.”

The man remained silent while listening to her patiently.

Amanda felt sorry at the mention of the embarrassing dinner the day before.
Finally, Simon parted his lips and said, “I understand you’re in a difficult situation, but do you want to hide the child from Elias forever? You won’t be able to do that, for he’ll find out sooner or
later.
“You have a point. That’s why I’ve decided to resign once the cases on hand are settled and head abroad with my child so that the Winterses will never discover his existence.”
She told Simon her plans in the hopes that he would support her.
Much to her surprise, the man said with a smile, “It took me a lot of effort to make you come back, and now you’re leaving.”
“I’m sorry, but I have no other choice…”
If Amanda stayed in Imperia, the Winterses would discover the child sooner or later. When that happened, she would fall into a predicament.
She believed the Winterses would snatch the child from her no matter what.
Simon picked up his cup and took a sip of tea. “Marry me and make Aiden my son. Start a new life. You can’t keep hiding the child forever.”
Instantly, Amanda was rooted to the spot, thinking that she had misheard him.
It never crossed her mind that Simon would tell her to marry him.
“Stop pulling my leg.” An embarrassed Amanda picked up her cup and looked away from the
man.
“I’m not pulling your leg. My mom has been urging me to find a woman, and I’m mature enough to get married. We’ve been friends for four years and we know each other pretty well. You know that we’re compatible,” Simon explained with a serious expression as the atmosphere turned.

With a smile, she replied. “Thanks, Simon. However, I’m a divorcee, so marriage isn’t something on my mind now. You deserve a better woman.”
Given Simon’s status and wealth, he could easily find a decent woman.
On the other hand, she was a divorcee with a child, so she didn’t deserve a man like him.
Without dwelling on the topic, Simon looked at his wristwatch and said, “It’s getting late, so I’ll take my leave now. Good night.”

Amanda rose from the couch to see him off.
When the man left the house, he murmured, “You should consider my suggestion. We can get married without any love, and it’s the best solution for both of us.”
With that, he turned around and entered the elevator.
After closing the door, Amanda leaned against it and fell deep into thought. What did he mean that we can get married without love? I truly loved Elias when we got married, but I was hurt in the end. Will a marriage without love be any better?
Her phone started ringing just then, and she snapped back to reality.
She fished out her phone and realized it was a call from Elias. With a frown, she connected the call and snapped, “Why are you calling me at this hour? Do you want to humiliate me again?”
“Come out. I’m outside your apartment. Let’s talk.”
“There’s nothing to talk about between us apart from work.”
Just as she was ready to hang up, Elias threatened her by saying. “Sure, just stay right inside your house. I’ll go looking for you.”
“Don’t come here! I’ll go downstairs!”
When Amanda heard that Elias wanted to come to her house, she was flustered.

At that moment, Elias sat on the hood and crossed his arms with a dispassionate expression. He looked so sulky that it was as though he would flare up at any moment.
Realizing that something was off, Amanda decided to be careful.
“What are you here for?”
After registering the woman’s presence, Elias straightened up and said frankly. “I’ve looked into Simon’s background. He had a girlfriend for many years, but the woman got married all of a sudden. He also has an illegitimate child. You’d better stay away from such a man whose private life is a mess”

With an impassive expression, Amanda questioned, “Did you make me come here just to tell me this?”
“I’m serious. It’s not easy being a stepmother, so you’d better think twice,” Elias stated solemnly.
“Alright. Thanks for your concern. Mr. Elias. I got it. If there’s nothing else, I’ll go back now.”
The man was irritated by her attitude.
The moment Amanda turned around, he pulled her back and roared. “Did you hear what I just said? I told you to stay away from Simon! He’s a terrible guy!”
Amanda looked straight at him and countered, “Are you a good person, then? Just like Simon, you also have a lover in your heart. Both of you are birds of a feather. I suppose all men in the world. are like this. In that case, why would I mind it?”
“I don’t have any lover! Who told you all men in the world are the same? Are you out of your
mind?!”
Elias felt that he would pass out from getting annoyed by the woman sooner or later, for she loved contorting everything he said. How can she compare me to Simon? How are we even the same? I don’t have a lover in my heart. I only take care of Grace out of responsibility. I don’t love her!
Amanda sneered at that. “You don’t have a lover, huh? You’ve done many horrible things for Grace and you even gave up your child. You’ve even set up a tomb for the child. Stop pretending to be a loving person. I’m not interested in watching your act.”

She stiffened as her face turned pale in an instant. Her pupils dilated in horror and she didn’t dare to turn around and look at the man.
She sprinted down the stairs but suddenly remembered her pregnancy and slowed down. Clutching the test strip in her hand, she wondered what Elias Winters' reaction would be once he heard the news.
Yet, when Amanda was halfway down the stairs, she saw two figures in the living room—Elias and a sexy woman. Slowing down her steps, she held the handrail tightly and felt her heart sink. That was because she saw her husband and the woman behaving affectionately as though they were a smitten couple.
