Chapter 213 Do I Address Uncle Elias as Daddy From Now On?
When Jack turned his head, he saw that the duo had returned home together.
Elias was stoic, whereas Stephanie had a long face. It was obvious that she was furious with Jack.
“Dad, did you ask Elias to bring me back?!”
Even though Stephanie had long guessed it, she still wanted to hear the answer from the horse’s mouth.
Jack nodded upon hearing that. “Obviously. Was I supposed to watch you elope with that poor boy? I’ll have you know that from today onward, you are grounded to prepare for the engagement ceremony next month. Just watch me break your legs if you dare to leave the house!”
“Dad, you are being unreasonable! I’m also telling you right now that I won’t get married if my partner is not Crisp! I—”
Stephanie had once again lost control of herself and expressed her true thoughts.
The man beside her forced a cough as if to remind her what she was doing.
Stephanie soon understood his signal and immediately shut up. She then cleared her throat before, mumbling, “I… I am a little sleepy. I’m going upstairs to sleep.”
With that, she planned to head upstairs.
Jack could see that the two youngsters seemed to have a secret, so he narrowed his eyes and boomed at his daughter. “Stop right there! What was it that you wanted to say just now?”
“I wasn’t trying to say anything. I’m only begging for you to spare Crisp, or I’ll make sure the ceremony doesn’t go smoothly. You know what I’m capable of!”

At that, Stephanie turned and headed upstairs without a backward glance, leaving the rest to Elias to explain to Jack.
She was dumbfounded when Elias told her of his plans while they were on the road earlier. For the time being, she would regard him as a scheming man because no one was as shrewd as her father.
Presently, Jack looked at Elias. “What is the meaning of this?”
“Please don’t worry, Mr. Allegra. The engagement ceremony next month at Port Der will go as planned, but I’m trying to drag it out with her. She trusts me now because she thinks that I can deceive you.” Elias sat on the one-seater couch, acting like he was in his home.
Jack’s expression changed from one of doubt to a faint smile. “Huh. So, you promised her that she’ll be with that poor boy without letting anything get in her way.”
“Of course. Otherwise, she will rebel against you. You know her character the best.”
Jack immediately smiled meaningfully.
He had already known long ago that there was more to Elias than met the eye, but he never expected that the young man could convince Stephanie.”
How Elias did so was not important because the most important thing was that Stephanie had agreed to the engagement. Once the engagement ceremony was complete, Jack would ensure that everything would
be executed according to his plan.
“You did a good job, Elias. It seems that your grandfather was right to have favored you so much. He kept saying that you were his most promising successor, but you were careless this time. How could you have allowed your aunt to snatch all of the shares from your grandfather? Remember, no matter what kind of difficulties you encounter in the future, you can’t hesitate for too long. The resources in your hands wait for no one, alright?” Jack warned again.
Lips pursed, Elias only raised his gaze to look at Jack, who was seated opposite him, without saying a word.
He knew that the older man did not fully trust him. After all, Stephanie was his only daughter. It was understandable that Jack wanted someone trustworthy and capable to be Stephanie’s husband.
However, once Jack had full faith in him, Elias’ plan to regain all the lost company shares could officially begin.
The next day.
Feeling bored at home, Amanda decided to send Aiden to kindergarten.
“Mommy, Uncle Elias…” Aiden looked awkward after addressing Elias as such and couldn’t continue with the rest of his sentence.
She patiently waited for the boy to pick up from where he left off.
“Baby, what do you want to say? I’m listening.”
The child frowned and thought for a while before he continued, “Do I have to call Uncle Elias ‘Daddy’ from now on? I’m not ready to do that.”
“Then, we’ll wait until you are. Didn’t Uncle Elias tell you that he’s not in a hurry? He can wait for you.”
Aiden pouted and thought for a long time before he said, “Does that mean he won’t want us again in the future? If such a day comes, it’s better not to have a daddy. It’s pointless anyway.”
It seemed that Amanda’s thoughts were deeply ingrained in Aiden’s mind, so he thought Elias would never genuinely like them.
Amanda suddenly felt guilty. This was all her fault.
Even if there are deep conflicts between adults, children should not be involved and exposed to such ideas.
“It won’t happen. Your daddy will never ever ditch you.”
Aiden looked at Amanda for a second. “Okay. I’ll believe him, then.”
At that, he released her hand and headed in the direction of his classroom.
It was only then did Amanda realize that they had arrived in front of the classroom. And the brat didn’t even look back to tell her goodbye! Why does it suddenly feel like he is all grown up?
She was reluctant since she wanted Aiden to be by her side all the time. Alas, he still had to grow up and become an adult in the end.
Now, the only people who could accompany her were only Aiden and… Elias.
Those two were her closest, even though Elias was still considered as her ex-husband.
Ring! Ring!
It was the phone ringing.
Amanda whipped her phone out and saw that it was Simon calling.
She hesitated for a while before deciding to take the call since she had already guessed what he wanted to
say.
“Hello… Simon…”
“Amanda, can we have a chat? Are you really going to resign and not return to the law firm?”
She looked at the busy street in front of her and answered, “Well, I need a break. I’m too exhausted.”
Not to mention that she was not in the right state of mind to work. Even if she returned to the law firm, she was worried that she would not be as efficient as before and might make mistakes.
“It’s fine if you want to rest. There’s no need to resign, though. Didn’t you decide to remain in town? Why don’t we meet up for a talk? We’ll continue with where we left off the last time, alright?”
“Simon, I don’t want to talk about it anymore. If it’s about work, we can do it over the phone. If it’s about personal relationships, save your breath, We’re only colleagues, friends, and business partners. Don’t disappoint Lunabelle. I can see that she has made up her mind to be with you. I don’t think she’ll betray you again, so why don’t you give her another chance?”
Simon was silent on the other end of the line. It wasn’t long before he disconnected the call.
Amanda couldn’t help laughing when she saw that he hung up on her. Even she herself had no idea what was so funny about it.
What are you trying to do by hanging up on me? Are you going to ignore me? Or have you decided on reconciling with Lunabelle? I’ve no idea, but I’m not interested to know since it’s no longer my business.
She had completely removed Simon from her list of potential candidates since they were only suited to be colleagues, friends, and business partners.
She sprinted down the stairs but suddenly remembered her pregnancy and slowed down. Clutching the test strip in her hand, she wondered what Elias Winters' reaction would be once he heard the news.
Yet, when Amanda was halfway down the stairs, she saw two figures in the living room—Elias and a sexy woman. Slowing down her steps, she held the handrail tightly and felt her heart sink. That was because she saw her husband and the woman behaving affectionately as though they were a smitten couple.
