Chapter 207 Visiting His Ex-wife
Stephanie arrived at her father’s study and saw him on the phone. Still, she shouted, “Dad! Are you out of your mind? How could you let me become someone’s stepmother?”
Jack’s back was against her when he heard her voice. Shocked, he quickly hung up the call and thought that his daughter was too willful. She didn’t even care that he was on the phone.
“Didn’t you see I was talking to someone? Couldn’t you wait for a while longer?” Jack put down his phone. on the table and sat down on his chair. He already knew what his daughter was going to say.
Stephanie furiously placed her hands on the table and bellowed, “Dad! I’m not going to be someone’s stepmother. Not only is Elias a divorcee, but he also has a three-year-old son, How could marry him?”

However, Jack was unfazed. He leaned against the seat and said calmly. “It’s common in the business. world. You’re my only daughter, so please stop being short-sighted. He’s from the Winters Family, so why would it be surprising that he has an illegitimate son? Didn’t you see his face? Do you think no woman would want to hook up with a handsome man like him? Even if they’re not after his money, they’ll still woo him for his handsomeness. When you become his wife, you don’t have to be worried about the son of his ex-wife kicking up a storm.”
“You’re hopeless, Dad.” Stephanie found it impossible to reason with her father. For some reason,, -insisted on making her marry Elias.

A disappointed Stephanie turned around and left the study before slamming the door shut. Suddenly, a solution came to her mind. She decided to visit Elias’ ex-wife to glean some information from her.
After she found out all of Elias’ shortcomings, she would let her father know that the man was unreliable. She then fished out her phone and dialed a number. “Hello? Help me find out who Elias’ ex-wife is. I have to visit her.”
At their home in Northern No. 1, Selina said, “Amanda, why don’t you prepare dinner and invite Mr. Winters to come over? I can see that he has lost some weight. I suppose he’s exhausted from dealing with the funeral and his work. He’s Aiden’s father, after all.”
Presently, Amanda was killing time by watching the television in the living room. When she heard the woman’s words, she turned to look at her.
Perhaps it’s because of his grandfather’s death that Elias has been treating me coldly. When he came over last night, he indeed looked thinner than before. I heard that his aunt had snatched all of Old Mr. Winters’ shares from him. I suppose he must be trying very hard to solve the problems now. Why would I even be bothered by his attitude toward me at this point? That’s so childish of me.
At the thought of this, Amanda straightened up and replied, “Alright. Why don’t you buy some ingredients for me? I’ll prepare dinner later and ask him to come over so that he’ll get to spend some time with Aiden.”
It was apparent that Aiden had been trying to avoid Elias, so she had to come up with a way to help ease. off the tension between them.
“Alright, I’ll get going now and also pick up Aiden from school.” Selina got changed and headed out. leaving Amanda alone at home.
Amanda fished out her phone, ready to learn some recipes on the internet. Since his grandfather is no longer
around, I shouldn’t be concerned about his attitude toward me
Finding herself ridiculous, Amanda shook her head with a helpless smile.
All of a sudden, the doorbell started ringing. Amanda put down her phone and walked toward the door. She could see a young woman standing outside through the monitor, but she didn’t know her.
She was hesitant to open the door because the young woman was still impatiently pressing against the doorbell, making her look like she was ill-intentioned.
Amanda tried to recall who the woman was. Is she one of my clients? But I don’t remember seeing her before.
Out of curiosity, she opened the door and saw a young woman in her earlier twenties. Given the luxurious clothes she was wearing, it was apparent that she was from a wealthy family.
“Hi, who are you?”
Stephanie examined Amanda and thought, Is she Elias ex-wife? From what I’ve gathered, she’s supposed to be a poor woman, and she has a father who is a hopeless gambler. I was wondering why Elias would marry such an ordinary woman.
However, the woman before her eyes was elegant, well-mannered, and beautiful. Although she was also a woman, she couldn’t help but be attracted to her beauty. Seeing that the woman remained silent, Amanda asked again, “May I know who you are, miss?”
Stephanie came to her senses and replied, “Oh, I’m Stephanie Allegra. Hi, Miss Bailey. I know you’re a lawyer, so I’m wondering if I could ask you about some law-related matters.”
Is she here for some legal advice? However, I haven’t gone to the law firm for a few days. Why would Simon recommend me to any clients?
Amanda couldn’t figure out what was happening, but it wasn’t the right time to think about it. She put on a polite smile and motioned for the woman to enter her house. “Yeah, sure. Please come in.”
Stephanie nodded and entered the house. As she looked around, she felt that the interior was nicely decorated. The house is costly, and this neighborhood is the most expensive in the area. Can a lawyer make so much money?
Stephanie couldn’t help but think that Elias might’ve given the house to his ex-wife/After all, they had a three-year-old son.
“Would you like any drink, Miss Allegra?” Amanda asked.
Stephanie sat down on the couch and replied with a smile, “I’d like a cup of coffee, please.”
Amanda smiled and headed to the kitchen. That woman is so strange. How did she even find my address?
Suddenly, she recalled that not even Simon was aware of her address. When she was done preparing the coffee, she returned to the living room and put it down in front of Stephanie. Then, she asked tentatively, “How did you find my address, Miss Allegra?”
“Well, I have my own way of achieving that, so please ask no further, Miss Bailey. Can we cut to the chase? There’s something I have to attend to after the discussion.”
Amanda replied, “It so happens that I’ll be busy soon. Let’s talk about it right now.”
After giving it some thought, Stephanie felt she had to put on an act. What should I tell her?
“I’d like to talk about the division of property after a divorce.”
Another divorce? Amanda lamented in secret. She had dealt with far too many divorce cases that year. Is the divorce rate so high these days?
Amanda said with a smile, “Go ahead, Miss Allegra. Do you have a specific area you’d like to discuss? 1 didn’t expect you to be married, considering how young you are.”
She looks like she has just graduated from university, but she’s already getting a divorce.
Stephanie smiled awkwardly and started beating around the bush. “My husband is having an affair, so I want to divorce him. By the way, Miss Bailey, I heard you’re a divorcee with a three-year-old son. How did you deal with the division of property with your ex-husband at that time?”
Amanda was rendered speechless upon hearing that.
She sprinted down the stairs but suddenly remembered her pregnancy and slowed down. Clutching the test strip in her hand, she wondered what Elias Winters' reaction would be once he heard the news.
Yet, when Amanda was halfway down the stairs, she saw two figures in the living room—Elias and a sexy woman. Slowing down her steps, she held the handrail tightly and felt her heart sink. That was because she saw her husband and the woman behaving affectionately as though they were a smitten couple.
