Chapter 571
Upon hearing this, Kevin instantly fell silent.
Agnes had heard about this before.
1
Valeria held a significant position in the Thomas family, even surpassing Mr. Berlin.
But her status wasn’t given by the Thomas family, it was earned by her own abilities in the Thomas Group.
Raleign and Kevin were both directors of the Thomas Group, but their positions were only in name with no actual power.
Valeria, however, was the CEO of the Thomas Group, holding true power.
Even within the Thomas family, her words carried heavy weight, second only to the head of the Thomas family.
Raleign changed the topic, “Valeria hasn’t been home for over–half a year, I wonder if she’ll bring her mysterious fiancé for us to meet this time.”
Kevin snorted, “Mysterious? Isn’t he just the CEO of the Tim Group, Jared Whitfield, Ryder’s… uncle?”
Everyone knew a bit about the relationship between Jared and Ryder, but not much.
After all, when Ryder returned to the Thomas family, the rumors about Ryder’s uncle becoming his brother were quickly squashed.
But rumors always have a source, and the Thomas family knew it was true.
But this was considered taboo in the Thomas family. Supposedly, the head of the Thomas family divorced because he couldn’t stand that Alyssa Whitfield’s brother was actually his son, born when he was just 16.
At the time of the divorce, Raleign and Kevin were young and had only faint memories of their stepmother.
She was a beautiful but cold woman.
From the day she married their father, she never seemed to smile.
They knew even less about the real reason for the divorce, only remembering that it happened quietly and without warning.
Uport hearing Jared’s name, Agnes was slightly taken aback.
Everyone knew Valeria’s fiancé was Jared.
But Agnes was curious, could a person like Valeria tolerate her fiancé having a flirtatious relationship with her stepsister?
In Agnes‘ memory, she and Valeria once teamed up to against Laura.
Agnes got everything she wanted, but Valeria couldn’t stop Berlin from being with Laura, who even became the legitimate Mrs. Thomas.
Agnes didn’t know what happened next.
But life has a way of bringing past people and events back into view.
In the afternoon, Agnes felt a bit uneasy, as if something bad was about to happen.
She hadn’t fully recovered from her cold the day before, so she spent the entire afternoon sleeping in her room.
Until a servant knocked on her door, saying, “Mr. Thomas is back, should Mr. Ryder and Ms. Agnes come down?”
Agnes had just woken up.
Ryder was in the room, he checked her temperature and said, “You’re having recurring fever. Have you had this before?”
Agnes shook her head.

Ryder said, “After dinner, I’ll take you to the hospital for a check–up.”
Agnes thought Ryder was being overly worried. As a doctor, he often imagined a common cold as a precursor to various other diseases.
Agnes got up and said, “Let’s go.”
Agnes‘ room was on the third floor, and the dining room was on the second floor.
After leaving the room, they still had to cross a long corridor.
Below the stairs was a large, bright hall.
When Agnes reached the top of the stairs, she sneezed.
Ryder frowned.
He said, “I’ll get you a coat, wait here for a moment.”
Ryder turned and left.
Agnès stood on the stairs waiting.
Below the stairs was a large, bright hall.
When Agnes looked down, she saw a familiar figure in the middle of the hall.
Lovely just what I was looking for. Thanks to the author for taking his time on this one.
