Chapter 482
Albert was speaking in a very matter–of–fact tone.
But Agnes was all hyped up just listening to that brief intro.
Those guys were really extraordinary people.
Just like the character she used to read about in her novels.
Sure, they weren’t the good guys, but each had their own charm and were damn powerful.
Albert let out a sigh, ‘Agnes, you might not believe this but you look like a friend I had when I was younger. I didn’t treat her well. Seeing you, I feel like I want to make up for past mistakes. Fate works in mysterious ways, eh?”
Agnes forced a smile, “I guess I’m lucky then. You saved my skin multiple times, twice saving my life. I really owe you.”
“Dumb kid.” Albert reached out and ruffled Agnes‘ hair, “I’ve heard about what you’re going through. What’s your plan now?” Agnes has been making headlines lately.
So it didn’t surprise her that Albert knew about her identity and what she’s been dealing with.
Agnes‘ mind was still in chaos.
Distracted by Albert’s peculiar identity and the unique people around him, she momentarily forgot about her own predicament.
After some pondering, Agnes suddenly blurted out, “Albert, take me with you.”
She didn’t even know why she said that.
But really, what’s there left for her in this city?
She has to get out.
But she had no clue where to go.
2
All she wanted now was to find a secluded place and safely give birth to her baby.
She didn’t want to think about anything.
This place was full of deceit and hypocrisy.
Today it was Beatrice, who knows who it’d be tomorrow!
Agnes didn’t know why she was turning to Albert for help.
Even though she knew he had a complex background.
But she inexplicably trusted him.’
Just like Albert said, from the get–go, she felt like she could rely on him.
She believed that Albert wouldn’t hurt her.
Albert didn’t say a word, just patted her shoulder, “Get some rest here tonight. I’ll take you with me tomorrow. From then on, no one will dare to mess with you or hurt you. You can safely have your baby. I’ll make sure they’re safe for life.”
Agnes was taken aback.
So Albert knew she was pregnant.
A secret that only she and Kerri knew..
How did Albert find out?
But Albert had so much power, he had so much power everywhere. If Albert really wanted to know, it wouldn’t be hard.
Agnes was tired and in no mood to think. She had a narrow escape tonight, and she couldn’t shake off the image of Beatrice’s blood–streaked face and that hateful look.
She forced herself to stop thinking about it and went back to her room to rest.
At that time, Agnes was just looking for a safe haven.
When she lost everything, Agnes followed Albert to San Francisco.
Later, she moved to Manhattan.
But Agnes never expected to stay there for four years.
A lot happened in those four years.
Her child, Nocturne Pritchard, was born, Agnes found a job.
She became self–reliant and rented a high–rise apartment.
It felt like she had completely cut ties with her past, leaving everything behind.
Her surroundings, the people she interacted with, everything had changed drastically.
When she left with Albert, she left her old phone behind at Maplewood Manor, cutting off contact with her old friends.
Everything was starting anew…

The core of your writing while sounding reasonable at first, did not work very well with me personally after some time. Somewhere throughout the paragraphs you actually managed to make me a believer unfortunately only for a while. I however have got a problem with your leaps in assumptions and you would do well to help fill in all those gaps. In the event that you can accomplish that, I could definitely end up being amazed.
