Chapter 473 

After dinner, Ivan planned to drop Agnes off at her place. 

But, out of nowhere, Mamie was recognized by fans, and they both got surrounded. 

Agnes was slow to move, but she managed to slip away from the crowd. 

She texted Ivan, telling him to take Mamie home first. 

The two of them had a hard time shaking off the fans. 

Only when the reporters started chasing them did Agnes slowly leave the hotel. 

She hailed a taxi, ready to go back to the Pritchard family’s mansion. 

Just as the car was passing by Maplewood Manor, Agnes suddenly asked the driver to stop. 

She got out of the car, not even sure why she did that. 

Her mind was filled with what Mamie had just said. 

Mamie had mentioned Jared had been drinking excessively at home, the situation was severe, his life was in chaos, as if he could drop dead at any 

moment. 

Agnes couldn’t help but worry. 

She wanted to go in to check, but she hesitated, going back and forth several times. 

They were divorced. 

She no longer had the right to enter Maplewood Manor. 

But she was leaving, wasn’t she? 

About to move away, not knowing when she could return. 

Agnes really wanted to see Jared’s face. 

She knew this thought was dangerous. 

She had personally cut off everything. Now that they’ve lost all contact, why would she want to stir up trouble? 

But in the end, Agnes couldn’t control herself. 

Maybe it was the impending separation, or maybe it was because the moon was particularly round tonight. 

Agnes felt like she was going crazy. 

In the end, she went to Maplewood Manor. 

The door to Maplewood Manor had a fingerprint lock. 

Jared probably hadn’t had time to change the lock after their divorce. 

Agnes went straight into the mansion. 

All the lights in the mansion were dim. 

Agnes thought that Jared might not be home. 

She told herself, she was just here to gather her belongings. 

When she left, she didn’t touch those things. 

Since they were split up, she should take her personal belongings with her. 

With this excuse, Agnes gained more confidence. 

Finally, she went straight into the house. 

Everything in the house was familiar to Agnes. 

So even without the lights on, she could easily find the stairs. 

Agnes walked up the stairs step by step. 

With each step, her heartbeat quickened. 

Would Jared be in the room? 

Mamie said he was drunk every day. 

Even if she went to take a peek, she wouldn’t be found, right? 

Once this thought appeared, she felt like she couldn’t control it anymore. 

In the end, her feet unconsciously moved towards the bedroom. 

When she reached the door, Agnes felt like her heart was going to stop. 

She told herself she would only take a look. As long as Jared was fine, she would leave immediately. 

Finally, Agnes opened the door to the room. 

She tried to be as quiet as possible, not daring to make any sound. 

The room was dark. 

However, the light outside was exceptionally bright, and the moonlight was shining on the bed through the floor–to–ceiling window. 

The bed was tidy, with no one on it. 

Agnes‘ heart suddenly raced. 

She quickly flipped the light switch.

The room was instantly illuminated. 

Agnes walked in, and there was no one in the room. 

That meant Jared was not home. 

Yet Mamie had clearly said that he had not stepped outside in days and had been at home every day. 

Agnes looked at the bedroom, clean and spotless. 

That was just like Jared’s style. 

Agnes was not sure whether she was relieved or a bit disappointed. 

Perhaps it was destiny, that they didn’t need to see each other one last time. 

Agnes stood in the room for a while. 

Then she turned around to leave. 

But when she turned around, she saw a tall figure at the door. 

It was Jared… 

Agnes was truly startled. 

She instinctively stopped in her tracks. 

And Jared stood there, dressed in a suit, obviously just back from work. 

Jared looked dapper, a bit thinner but still vibrant, his eyes sparkling. 

He did not have the look of decay that Mamie had described. 

Only then did Agnes realize that Mamie might have deliberately said that, trying to bait her into action.
