Agnes had known Jared for years and was aware that he never used harsh words, no matter how upset. Now, for the first time, she heard him curse. His gaze was icy, each look piercing her soul. He was genuinely upset The atmosphere turned frigid, and his voice was chilling as he said, “Agnes, are you serious?” 

Agnes was tormented She’d spoken hurtfully to Alyssa, not out of genuine sentiment, but just to hurt her. The harsh reality was that Alyssa had killed her mother, and the Whitfield family was the root of her suffering 

How could she remain Mrs. Whitfield after all this? She considered divorcing Jared. Her fear was that she might use him to seek revenge on Alyssa. She didn’t want that. Her residual kindness was guiding 

her decision 

This had nothing to do with Jared, right? But he was Alyssa’s beloved brother and the head of the Whitfield family. She couldn’t be with him anymore. Her mother’s death had become an insurmountable chasm, how could she be at ease being his wife and living under the same roof with her mother’s killer? 

She couldn’t do it. 

Agnes‘ voice was firm like never before, “I’m serious, Jared, let’s get divorced. I don’t love you anymore. I can’t live with you anymore.” 

Jared suddenly stood up, taking two steps closer and grabbed her arm, “Why? Tell me why, Agnes. What did I do wrong that you want a divorce?” 

Agnes felt as if her arm was being crushed, but she didn’t struggle. She replied calmly, “It’s not your fault. It’s mine. Marrying you was a spur–of–the–moment decision, but Jared, I regret it now, I want to correct my mistake.” 

Jared’s voice was chilling, his grip on her arm tightened, “A spur–of–the–moment decision, huh? Agnes, do you think regretting now would help? If there really was time machine in this world, I’d use all my wealth to buy it for you. But Agnes, since you’re married to me, I suggest you drop this idea. I’ve told you, I will never get a divorce in this lifetime!” 

Agnes arm couldn’t stand his grip anymore. She felt like her bones were about to shatter. She started struggling, “Jared, let go of me, let go!” 

Let go of her? That’s never going to happen! 

Jared grabbed her other hand and threw her onto the sofa. Before Agnes could react, Jared had already fiercely kissed her. No, it wasn’t a kiss, but more like a savage bite. Agnes‘ lips were bitten till they 

bled, her mouth filled with the taste of blood. 

She struggled, punching Jared’s shoulders, The more she resisted, the more he refused to let her go. It was as if he wanted to tear her apart and swallow her whole. He hated it when Agnes mentioned 

divorce. 

But this time, Jared really felt it. Agnes was not joking, she wasn’t even angry. She calmly proposed a divorce.
