The next day
Agnes woke up bright and early, only to find Jared missing from her side.
He was definitely there last night
A nurse came in to change Agnes’s medication and check her temperature.
With a look of envy, the nurse told her that Mr. Whitfield had already gotten her breakfast.
After the nurse left, Mamie called and told her that she had taken leave for her.
The director told her to rest for a week.
Agnes felt a bit guilty, worrying that it would affect the progress of the filming.
But with her current condition, she really couldn’t continue filming.
Feeling a bit bored, Agnes turned on the TV
She flipped through some channels.
On the law and order channel, she saw that blonde punk from yesterday
Word was, he and his gang had turned themselves in.
They admitted to assaulting someone.
And when they turned themselves in, they all had long knife wounds on their arms.
Agnes was injured on her left hand, and those punks were also injured on their left hands. Since last night, Agnes had a weird feeling.
Those punks who were all seemingly bad to the bone, why did they suddenly change?
Yesterday, Agnes was too shocked and weak to think about it.
But now, it seemed like there were many questions.
When did they start to change their attitude? It seemed like it was after that knife came down.
Agnes was a bit drowsy at the time, but she seemed to hear them talking about the bracelet
Could it have something to do with the bracelet?
Another thing that puzzled Agnes was that the blonde punk kept calling her name.
He knew her name.
But she didn’t know him
Agnes vaguely remembered that the blonde punk mentioned she was an actress.
What did that mean?
Agnes felt her heart slightly tremble.
She didn’t dare to think further.
Just then, Jared came back.
Agnes turned her head and asked, “Where were you?”
“I went to get you some porndge. You were sleeping so peacefully this morning, I didn’t have the heart to wake you”
Agnes was already out of bed
Jared took out the porridge, “Got it from nearby the hospital. Eat a bit for now, once you’re discharged, you can stay with me at the Grandeur Mirage Manor, I’ll cook for you then.”
Agnes smiled. “Tm not that bad off, it’s just a superficial injury. I can be discharged by noon.”
Jared’s face took on a shadowed expression. “This situation isn’t as straightforward as you believe. I’m determined to uncover who’s orchestrating this against you, and they won’t escape consequences.”
Agnes suddenly remembered something she had seen earlier. “Jared, the news just reported that those thugs have turned themselves in. Were you involved in that in any way?”
He shook his head in response. “I’ve heard about it. They came forward of their own volition. Each of them was injured. Now, the police are trying to piece things together. The gang’s leader mentioned they were under someone’s employment.”
A chill ran down Agnes’s spine. “Who could it be?”
She tried to fathom who would harbor such a vendetta against her. The previous night’s events played in her mind, and she shuddered at the thought of what might have been her fate had things not changed
Jared’s face tightened with anger. “They haven’t identified anyone specific. The only description they have is of a woman in her twenties. She apparently offered them five thousand dollars upfront to harm you and document it. If they had succeeded in their mission, she promised them an additional ten thousand
As he spoke, Jared’s hand was already clenched into a fist.
He couldn’t believe that someone would set Agnes up like this.
Just thinking about it made him feel murderous.
