Agnes let go of Beatrice’s hand, turning to leave 

But Beatrice pointed at Agnes’s retreating figure and shouted, “Agnes, you dare to treat me like this just because you’ve become Mrs. Whitfield, huh? But do you know, the Whitfields were behind your mom’s death, and you marned Jared to enjoy the glitz and glamour, your mom would be furious if she knew” Agnes stopped dead in her tracks. 

She turned around, “Beatrice, what did you say? You better make yourself clear today! 

“Alright, I’ll spill the beans. Your mom took her own life, but do you know why? Because she pocketed a donation and was shamed when it went public. She couldn’t handle the public scrutiny and committed suicide. That donation was from Alyssa Whitfield. Your mom and Alyssa were buddies, tumed enemies over a guy. It was public knowledge in our circle then. Don’t you think your mom’s suicide was fishy? It could have been Alyssa’s doing. And you still call her sister so affectionately, Agnes, you’ve actually married into your enemy’s family.” 

Suddenly, Agnes felt a chill run through her body 

She had looked up the newspapers from ten years ago. 

Her mom did commit suicide due to the exposure of a 2-million donation, which ruined her reputation. 

But Agnes couldn’t trace the source of the donation. 

She never expected Beatrice to know so much. 

Keeping her composure, Agnes asked, “Who told you all this?” 

“No one. I eavesdropped on my parents’ argument. Dad knew about the Whitfields’ involvement but you were already secretly married to Jared. He didn’t want to ruin your marriage so he kept it from you. But Agnes, some truths can’t be hidden. The Whitfields are linked to your mom’s death. Even if they didn’t intentionally set her up, she died because of it. Agnes, you’ve married your enemy’s son and you’re okay with it? Aren’t you afraid your mom would be upset?” 

Agnes felt as if she’d been hit by a bolt of lightning. Her mind reeled, and she tried to process what she’d heard. 

It didn’t matter if Beatrice spoke the truth or not, the revelation about unknown events from the past was shocking. 

Beatrice claimed that Alyssa and Agnes’s mother had once been friends, but they fell out over a man. What was going on? 

Beatrice watched Agnes’s stunned reaction with a hint of smugness. She had joined the cast specifically to get close to Agnes and wait for the right moment to drop this bombshell. Although her original intention was to get close to Jared, she believed that once Agnes learned the truth, their bond would shatter. 

Her attempt to intoxicate Jared didn’t succeed, so she devised another plot. 

Beatrice aimed to tarnish Agnes’s reputation, ensuring the Whitfields would disown her. After all, they would never accept a woman with a questionable past to be Jared’s wife. 

But to her surprise, Agnes had good luck and dodged the bullet. 

Now, seeing the lost look on Agnes’s face, Beatrice felt this information was enough.
