Jared was nursing a headache, rubbing his temples. An uncanny feeling washed over him when Beatrice showed up at the door, which just added to his irritation and intensified his headache.
Beatnce couldn’t gauge Jared’s reaction, but now that she’d said what she had, there was no backing out. She stood up resolutely and started walking towards Jared
“Jared, ever since I found out that you were marrying Agnes, my heart shattered. You’m the best guy out there, and I’ve always heard tales about you. Countless times, I’ve dreamed of falling for you, of being your wife When Dad took me to Mr. Tim’s birthday party, I was over the moon. I thought I’d finally get to meet you” Jared remained silent, just staring at the blurry figure in front of him.
He took a couple steps back, maintaining some distance.
Beatrice continued, “But then I found out that you were already mamed to Agnes. I was devastated, felt like my world was crashing down. That’s when I realized that I had fallen head over heels for you”
“What’s your point in telling me all this?” Jared finally spoke, his voice laced with a chilly disdain.
Caught off guard by Jared’s chilly demeanor, Beatrice’s face momentarily stiffened. Despite this, she continued feigning intoxication, her voice laden with emotion “I’m not trying to make a point. I just can’t keep my feelings concealed any longer. I love you deeply, just as Agnes does. Can’t you recognize that? And let’s not forget. Agnes had a significant relationship with Elton Taylor for a decade before you came into the picture. Even though he betrayed her, they were inseparable since childhood. She dedicated her prime years to him, and she will always remember him. So, what’s so special about her in your eyes?”
Mention of Elton cast a shadow over Jamd’s face, clearly a sore point for him.
Taking tentative steps closer to Jared, Beatrice’s eyes mirrored the vulnerability of her heart, shimmering with unshed tears. “But I’m not like her. My love for you is genuine and pure. Even if you harbor feelings only for Agnes, and even if you never reciprocate my feelings, I’m prepared to wait. However, I earnestly wish to address you by your name, not as brother-in-law.”
As she reached out to hug Jared, he caught her arm.
He dragged her towards the bathroom. Beatrice was confused, but there was a tiny flicker of hope in her heart.
Jared pulled her into the shower, turned on the water, and shoved Beatrice under the cold spray
The cold water drenched Beatrice in an instant
