Chapter 981 

Mr. Tucker was worried about there might be a rift between Estelle Macclain and Gwen, so he was playing peacemaker with Gwen, while also enlisting an assistant director to sweet–talk Estelle. He hoped Estelle wouldn’t mix personal grievances with work, and that she could work well with Gwen 

The assistant director was in his thirties, unmarried. He sought out Estelle a few times, and after several encounters, he fell for her 

One day, the assistant director was chatting with Estelle about work. He looked around to make sure no one was nearby, then suddenly leaned in close to Estelle. He stared at her face and said, “Estelle, you’re so beautiful, have you ever thought about becoming an actress?” 

Estelle replied indifferently, “I haven’t thought about it” 

The assistant director grinned, “What a waste. Showbiz needs natural beauties like you.” 

Estelle still showed no interest, “That’s not my field, and I don’t have any talent in acting 

The assistant director quickly replied, “That doesn’t matter. We can cultivate your talent! You don’t know, many actors were nurtured under me. If you want to act, just tell me!” 

He lowered his voice, “How about we meet somewhere tonight? I’ll explain the script to you, see what role suits you. I’m a man of my word, I can arrange it for you 

night away.” 

Estelle glanced at the undisguised greed on the assistant director’s face and sneered, “Are you planning to arrange for me a scene where I’m harassed by the crew and then they get beaten up?” 

The assistant director’s face turned pale instantly. Estelle didn’t even look at him as she turned and walked away 

The assistant director watched Estelle’s slender figure leaving, feeling extremely angry. He didn’t expect her to be so stubborn! 

In the following two days, Estelle was given a hard time by the assistant director. Even Craig noticed something was wrong and asked her if she had offended Mr. Kress” 

Estelle told him not to worry. She wasn’t part of the crew, so the assistant director could only trouble her, but he wouldn’t do anything else to her. 

One day, while Estelle was busy in the production office, Mr. Kress’s assistant came to call her, “Estelle, Mr. Kress wants to see you” 

Estelle put down her work and followed the assistant to see Mr. Kress. 

Outside the villa in the garden, a party scene was being shot. Estelle’s assistant Ana was holding a gown and crying quietly. Mr. Kress was sitting next to her, fuming 

Seeing Estelle, Mr. Kress asked with a stern face, “Estelle, what’s going on with this dress? The scene is about to be shot, and you guys didn’t know the dress was damaged Now Gwen can’t wear it anymore, how do we shoot the scene then? Who’s responsible for the delay?” 

Estelle walked over and saw that the diamonds on the dress Ana was holding had fallen all over the floor. She frowned and asked, “What happened?” 

Ana shook her head in grievance, “I don’t know. Gwen was supposed to wear this dress for this scene. It was fine when we checked it yesterday. When I took it out of the box just now, the diamonds and pearls fell all over the floor.” 

The dress was a custom–made piece by GK Jewelry studio for Gwen’s big scene. The entire skirt was adorned with diamonds of varying sizes, and the sleeves were embellished with precious pearls. Now, most of the pearls and diamonds had fallen off, essentially ruining the dress. 

Without a dress, they couldn’t continue shooting. Gwen and Clarice were waiting under a nearby umbrella. The two had become quite friendly on set recently, sai they spent time together even when they weren’t shooting. 

While Estelle was inspecting the dress, Clarice, wearing oversized sunglasses, said, “It’s a bit fishy how the dress got damaged, isn’t it?” 

Gwen asked innocently, “How is it fishy?”
