Chapter 964
Estelle glared at the broken pen on the floor, then crouched to pick it up.
Craig walked in, frowning. “Did she leave? What did she say to you?”
Estelle pulled out the remaining part, tossed the plastic shards into the trash, and calmly said, “Nothing much. I told her we should act like strangers from now on.
Craig nodded, “Right, she had the nerve to come here reminiscing the old days, what a joke!”
Estelle clapped her hands and lifted her head, looking calm again, “Alright, let’s not let this ruin our mood!
Craig didn’t want Estelle to feel sad so he quickly said, “Okay, we won’t bring her up anymore!”
In the evening, as Estelle was working on her designs, Manley video called her.
Manley held up his phone to show her every detail of his room. See for yourself, there’s not a single woman here!”
Estelle glanced at it and couldn’t help laughing “Manley, what are you doing? Bored much?
“I just want you to feel relieved, and you call me boring” Manley sat on the couch, bringing his face close to the phone, “Look at me! I can’t sleep because I miss you, and I’m breaking out!”
Estelle took a look and said indifferently, “Drink more water!”
“You’re really cold” Manley looked hurt, “You don’t even ask when I’m coming back?”
“People tend to avoid things they don’t want to happen, it’s human nature” Estelle said calmly, her pen slowly moving on the paper.
It took Manley a few seconds to react, then he growled, “I know you’re just too shy to express your feelings. You say you don’t want me back, but you actually do
Estelle looked at her phone and asked seriously, “Is the food over there good?
“What do you mean?” Manley asked, confused.
“I think you’ve gained weight. Your face looks bigger!
Manley wailed and collapsed onto the couch, ‘Estelle, can’t you say something nice to make me feel better?”
“Do you know me at all?”
Manley blurted out. “Were you like this when you were with Jonathan too?
Estelle’s pen stopped. She turned her head and said, “What did you say?”
Manley regretted his words and quickly changed the subject, “Let’s be serious, things are a bit complicated here, and I might have to stay a few more days. You be a good girl, sleep well, and take your meds on time?
“Mhm.” Estelle replied softly, “Don’t worry, I’ll take care of myself.”
They chatted for a while more, then hung up. Estelle got up to take a shower.
That night, she thought she would have trouble sleeping, that she would involuntarily think of Gwen, but lying in bed, she was surprisingly calm and quickly fell asleep
Craig came to her set, but the next day. Estelle didn’t see him all day.
Near the end of work, Estelle went to the production office, saw Craig moving props, soaked in sweat, his clothes sticking to his back.
He wasn’t done yet, someone called out, “Craig, here’s the info Clarice wanted, get it to her quick!”
“Sure!” Craig responded immediately, wiped his forehead, and ran to deliver the info.
As soon as he was done, someone else ordered, “There’s more work tonight, remember to get Gwen and Clarice some late-night snacks, Gwen has her own diet, don’t get it wrong
Craig answered and immediately went to do it.
Estelle watched him walk further away, then turned to leave, her face showing a gloomy expression.
The next morning after lunch, Estelle went to find the director. As she passed the garden, she saw Craig moving rocks from a truck. He was sweating bullets under the hot sun, while others sat under the shade enjoying their cold drinks, even complaining about Craig’s slow pace.
