Jonathan had Millard drive him to the Royal Mansion
It was already eleven at night Jonathan didn’t get out of the car. He hung out in the car for a bit, then dialed Estelle, “You asleep yet?”
Estelle sounded a bit groggy. “Just lay down, are you back”
Jonathan paused a bit, then coolly replied, “Not yet Might be a late one You get some shut eye, no need to wait up
“Stay safe, don’t get sloshed‘ Estelle said
“Okay, hang up Through the rearview mirror, Millard glanced at Jonathan, whose poker face slightly furrowed.
Jonathan lounged in the car seat for a bit longer before having Millard drive him back to the old Lamont family house.
He figured he needed some time to chill and rethink his relationship with Estelle.
Geoffrey was still up, and seeing that he didn’t ask about Estelle after he came back,, he just said, “Was about to ring you up. You should crash here for a while!” As Jonathan made for the stairs, he looked back, “Does mom know about me and Estelle?”
“No, I haven’t told her Your mom thinks highly of Estelle Your mother’s impression of Estelle is not bad. Until you find out, I can say nothing and save her some dignity
Jonathan nodded slightly. “Thanks, dad!”
The next day was a Saturday, Estelle woke up early. As the day broke, she found Jonathan was not there. Suddenly, she felt a bit lonesome.
She got up to find the spare room also empty
Jonathan hadn’t come home all night!
In the past, no matter how late he stayed out, he would always return to the Royal Mansion. But this time, he hadn’t.
Looking at the empty room, Estelle suddenly felt a bit uneasy.
She went to the balcony, read a bit, and only when the sun was fully up did she go to the kitchen to make breakfast.
While having breakfast, she got a call from Jonathan. His voice was low, emotionless,”You don’t need to come tutor Henson today.”
Estelle casually asked, “Henson got something going on today?”
“No Not just this weekend, you don’t need to come in future.” Jonathan said.
Estelle was taken aback, “Jonathan, what’s going on?”
There was a pause from the man on the other end of the line, then he slowly said, “Nothing. My sister–in–law figured you’re graduating soon and might be busy, didn’t want to waste your time, so she got Henson a new tutor.”
Estelle laughed, “it does not matter, I can manage my time.”
“My sister–in–law meant well. I’ve already accepted on your behalf.”
Estelle was reluctant to part with Henson, but could only say, “Alright. If Henson doesn’t click with the new tutor, I can come over anytime.”
“Alright Jonathan sounded indifferent, “Also, there’s a problem with one of the companies, I need to personally handle it, might need a week.”
“Is it serious?” Estelle immediately asked. She thought no wonder Jonathan has been off these days. Turns out there was a problem at the company.
“Nothing major But I need to be there to handle it. Take care of yourself this week. If you need anything, call me anytime.” Jonathan said.
Estelle nodded, “Don’t worry. And you don’t stress yourself out either, take care of your health!”
“Will do!”
“When are you leaving?”
“A plane this afternoon”
“Do you need to come back to pack?” Estelle asked, “Or I could bring it over. I’m free this morning.”
Actually, she just wanted to see him.
