Gwen was taken aback for a moment, instinctively looked around, and said in a low voice, “Mr. Lamont hasn’t been picking up Estelle these days, I thought they had a spat, but I just heard Estelle calling and it seems like Mr. Lamont is coming to pick her up later.” 

Yvonne’s lipstick paused at the corner of her mouth, a flash of coldness in her eyes. She both loathed Estelle and despised Jonathan! Despite knowing Estelle had ulterior motives, to the extent that Norah almost got dragged in, Jonathan still couldn’t let go of her! 

No worries, she still had an ace up her sleeve! If Jonathan wouldn’t let go, she’d find someone to force him to! 

After the party, Jonathan’s car had arrived outside the 9th Mansion. Given last time’s incident, everyone didn’t bat an eye when Estelle left in Jonathan’s car. 

Gwen stood in the shadow of a street lamp, watching the man’s car disappear into the distance, feeling lost and disappointed. 

Jonathan was driving, Estelle sat in the passenger seat, looking out the window. The car was quiet for a long time. 

“Did you enjoy the dinner? Do you want to grab some late–night snacks?” Jonathan suddenly asked. 

“No need, I’m full!” Estelle said with a laugh. She liked sweet and spicy food, but she wasn’t picky and could always eat well at any kind of gathering. Jonathan nodded slightly, eyes on the road, not saying another word. 

The car returned to its silence. They used to be quiet together without any awkwardness. But now, Estelle felt something was different. 

They arrived back at the Royal Mansion, entered, and as Estelle was taking off her shoes to go in, Jonathan suddenly embraced her from behind, his hot kiss landing on her lips. Estelle closed her eyes, tilting her head back to respond to him. 

From the living room to the bedroom, the man’s kiss never left her. Estelle gradually became lost in it, her fingers clutching his shoulders, kissing him back passionately. 

Two hours later, Jonathan had bathed Estelle, carried her to bed, and leaned over to kiss her forehead, “You sleep first, I have some work to do. If it gets too late, I’ll sleep in the next room.” 

Estelle rubbed her head against his arm, nodded vaguely, “Mmm.” 

The man kissed her cheek again, turned off the bedside lamp, and left. 

The door closed, the room darkened, and Estelle quickly fell asleep. 

But her sleep was restless, filled with dreams. In the end, she seemed to hear the sound of rain outside, and she woke up from her dream, opening her eyes to darkness. 

She turned over and found herself alone in bed, Jonathan hadn’t come back to sleep. She turned on the lamp, and checked the time. It was already three in the morning. 

It was indeed raining outside, the house was well insulated, so she couldn’t hear the sound. Estelle didn’t know what had woken her up. 

Thinking Jonathan was still working, she opened the door, but outside was pitch–dark, the study light had long been turned off. 

Jonathan had already gone to bed, just not with her. 

The living room window was open, and when Estelle went to close it, the wind blew rain onto her face, the icy touch making her instantly alert. 

She didn’t immediately go back to sleep, but stood at the window watching the night rain for a while. 

The whole of J City was shrouded in rain, the neon lights that flickered all night were blurred, and the whole city seemed very quiet. 

Estelle leaned against the railing, her eyes losing their previous brightness, and her heart also seemed tangled up in rain, making her feel confused and lost. 

In the past, no matter how late Jonathan’s meetings ran, he would always come back to the room to sleep with her. But this was the first time, he slept alone in the 

next room.
