Estelle slowly typed, [Just got back from the dessert shop]

Estelle looked at her phone with a gentle gaze
Craig turned and asked. “Your boyfriend, huh?”
Estelle nodded with a smile, “Yes!”
“You really like him, don’t you?” Craig sounded jealous. Tve never seen you smile like that”
Estelle didn’t respond. In her phone, Jonathan sent another message [Busy? I won’t bother you anymore. I’m going to work now, I’ll pick you up tonight]
He bought her a car but rarely saw her drive. So he’d pick her up whenever he had time
Estelle texted back, put down her phone and said to Craig “Let’s go!
She had a lot to do and shouldnt waste time on Nanette
Emily took two days off and today was her first day back at work. With lots of tasks piled up, she was super busy, but Noreen’s words were still stuck in her head Just as she was struggling with how to trick Charlie into going to the hotel, her supervisor suddenly announced in the afternoon that since they’d completed their work tasks ahead of schedule Mr. James was treating the department to dinner at 9th Mansion with a private room reserved
Other colleagues were cheering, but Emily was stunned, not moving for a while
Was this a divine intervention or a push towards a deeper abyss?
Emily was absent–minded all afternoon. When it was time to leave, Rachel came over with a stack of documents, “Emily, are you going to the dinner tonight? If not, sort out these files”
“Huh?” Emily hesitated for a moment, then slowly said. Tm going, but I’ll sort out these files and join you later.”
“Alright, suit yourself Rachel left, swaying her hips, to get dolled up for the evening
After work everyone was chatting about their outfits for the night, except for Emily, who was quietly sitting at her desk, working on the files.
Two colleagues passed by and said with a smile. Emily, stop working and join us!
Emily looked up. “You guys go ahead. I’ll catch up later!”
“Alright, see you there!”
The office gradually quietened down, leaving only Emily still working
It was already dark outside
Emily placed the sorted files on Rachel’s desk and returned to her seat, staring at the clock as the minutes ticked by, feeling a growing sense of panic.
She felt trapped between the abyss and a pack of wolves. She couldn’t retreat, as her mother was still waiting for her help!
So what if there’s an abyss? She had to cross it anyway!
Noreen’s text was urging her, [Emily, two days have passed‘]
