“You’ve already had a drink, so you can’t drive. Let the driver pick you up!” Emily said.

Charlie lifted his head, “Are you trying to get rid of me?”
“No!” Emily quickly shook her head, “I just… want you to get some rest soon.”
Charlie coldly glanced at her, then took out his phone to call the driver.
But the driver did not answer.
Charlie didn’t wait any longer, he set down his water bottle and got ready to leave.
“Where are you going?” Emily quickly asked, “You can’t drive yourself!”

Charlie turned back, his gaze deep, “Do you want me to stay?“.
Emily was momentarily at a loss for words,
Charlie’s lips curled into a cold smirk as he stepped towards the door.
Emily chased after him, urgently saying, “You can wait a little longer. Your driver might be busy. He’ll call you back soon!” Charlie, fuming, did not turn around, and said coldly, “Just take eare of yourself, what I do is none of your business!”
He walked quickly, and in a few steps, he reached the door, extending his hand to open it.
Emily suddenly grabbed his sleeve, her eyebrows furrowed as she stared at him.
Charlie’s gaze was icy, and there was no hint of a smile on his usually gentle and handsome face, “Let go of me!”
Emily’s bright eyes were filled with stubbornness, and she bit her lip, saying quietly, “…Stay here.”
Charlie stared at her, his voice raspy and low from the alcohol, “Do you know what you’re saying?”

Emily quickly said, “You can sleep in the guest room, if… you don’t mind.”
Charlie continued to stare at her, “Are you worried something will happen to me? You care about me that much?”
Emily’s heart raced, a feeling of panic spreading, she quickly explained, “You drank at my house. If something happens, I… I will also be implicated.”
Charlie frowned, anger welling up. He took hold of her chih, saying coldly, “Why can’t you say what I want to hear? Look at how Tracy talks to me, how Waters flatters me. Why can’t you learn from them?”
Emily felt a painful pinch on her chin, and she involuntarily backed away, “I’m not good at sucking up to people. If you don’t want to stay, you can leave right now. I shouldn’t have butted in!”
Charlie clenched his teeth, seemingly wishing to crush her.
Looking at her red, swollen eyes, he relented, releasing his grip, scoffing, “You shouldn’t have woken me up in the first place!”
With that, he didn’t leave, but turned back to the living room.
Emily wiped her nose, regretting getting involved in his affairs.
Taking a deep breath to calm her agitation, Emily went to the guest room to prepare the bed and blankets for Charlie.
Charlie leaned against the door, lazily watching her hustle and bustle.
Emily took out a fresh set of sheets from the cupboard and spread them on the bed.
During their earlier scuffle, a button on her blouse had come undone, revealing a glimpse of her chest when she bent over. Charlie’s throat suddenly felt dry, and he averted his gaze, asking nervously, “I need to take a shower, do you have any pajamas?”
Emily looked up, puzzled, “No, I only have my pajamas.”
“What am I supposed to wear then?” Charlie was somewhat irritated, and his tone was not pleasant.
“Do you want me to buy some for you now?” Emily stared at him coldly.
Perhaps because this man was always irrationally angry, Emily was no longer putting up with him.
Charlie stared at her, closed his eyes for a moment, then said calmly, “Just get me a bathrobe.”
“Okay.” Emily nodded, and went to her room to get a bathrobe.
Just as she left, Charlie’s phone rang. He glanced at it, and instinctively closed the room door.
The driver hastily said, “Mr. James, I left my phone in the room and didn’t hear your call. Do you need me to pick you up now?”
