After saying that, he closed the door and locked it.

Lucille’s face showed disbelief, and she rushed to the door, hitting it hard. “Jonathan, come back! You can’t do this to me! I’m from the Hammer Family, your grandpa won’t let you get away with this!”

*Jonathan, can you hear me? You don’t have the right to do this!”

“Jonathan!”

Lucille’s hoarse cries rang out as she madly beat the door, but the steel–inlaid wooden door didn’t budge. She suddenly turned around and glared at the burly, embarrassed men behind her, snarling, “Don’t touch me, or I swear I’ll make you pay!”

With that, she hurriedly opened her purse, took out her phone, and tried to make a call, only to find that there was no signal on her phone.

She panicked and turned back to the door to continue hitting it and shouting.

The Hammer Family spent a week searching for Lucille, and finally found some clues indicating that she had been taken away by Jonathan .

The Hammer Family didn’t even dare to confront Jonathan directly. Out of desperation, Lucille’s mom, Kathryn, asked for Manley’s help, saying that if Lucille had offended Jonathan, they could agree to any terms as long as Lucille was released.

Manley arranged to meet with Jonathan at Midnight Bar. After sitting down, Manley wasted no time in handing him an agreement, “This is what the Hammer Family promises, as long as you let go of Lucille.”

Jonathan leaned back on the sofa, not even bothering to look at the documents on the coffee table, scoffing, “Does the Lamont Family need this?”

Manley grinned, “I don’t like my cousin either. She’s stupid, arrogant, and way out of line. But I’m here to mediate for your sake as well. It’s not worth risking your life life over Lucille!”

Jonathan lit a cigarette, taking a slow drag, “Who said I kept Lucille? If you have any evidence, hand it over to the police, and they can come find me.”

Manley smiled, “I know Mr. Lamont is not afraid. Even if the Hammer family did get some evidence, no one would dare to mess with Mr. Lamont! But what if the Hammer Family were cornered and tried dirty tricks on you, even if they couldn’t hurt you, wouldn’t it still be painful?”

Jonathan’s face remained expressionless, “Then I’ll kill them too!”

Manley’s sank for a moment before he spoke, “If I’m not mistaken, it’s about Lucille and Estelle, right? What did she do to Estelle?”

Once he found out about Estelle and Jonathan’s relationship, he understood why Lucille spent so much effort persuading him to pursue

Estelle.

Jonathan flicked ash from his cigarette, “This has nothing to do with you!”

Manley stood up with a sudden smile, “It’s my girlfriend we’re talking about here. How can it have nothing to do with me? Why don’t I go and ask her myself what it would take to make her feel better?”

He finished his sentence and stood up to leave.

Suddenly, Jonathan’s face turned serious, “Manley, you better stay away from her!”

Stopping, Manley turned around and stuffed his hands in his pockets, “If it’s really because of Estelle, the people from the Hammer Family will eventually trace it back to her. They might not dare to do anything to Mr. Lamont, but what about Estelle? She’s only a student. Can you keep an eye on her every minute and watch her twenty–four seven?”

Jonathan’s eyes were dark and calm, and he said slowly, “They wouldn’t dare!”

“Lucille is my aunt’s only daughter, and for her daughter, she can do anything!”

Jonathan didn’t say a word, his eyes cold and calm. Finally, he whispered, “Fine, I’ll return Lucille to the Hammer Family, but I can’t guarantee if she’ll be alive or dead by then!”

Manley laughed dismissively, “If she digs her own grave, it’s up to her own luck whether she can survive in Mr. Lamont’s hands!”
