Back in the bedroom, Emily closed the door before speaking, “Mr. James?”
Charlie’s voice was filled with anger, “Kya told me you’re on a date?”
Emily’s eyes widened slightly, “No!”
“Then what are you doing?” Charlie asked coldly.
Emily explained, “Elliott’s girlfriend’s parents are visiting us. They’re getting married soon, so there’s a lot of people here.”
“Why is Martin there too?”
Emily bit her lip, “He was just passing by, came to visit my mother, and happened to be here!”
“Emily, do you take me for a fool?” Charlie asked sarcastically
To his surprise, Emily answered seriously, “No!”
Not sure if she was messing with him, he got even angrier, “Are you treating me like an idiot then?!”
