Chapter 117
Estelle’s shoulder was injured, but not severely. She moved a bit and said softly, “I’m fine.”
Jonathan grunted and said, “Wait for me, I’ll be right there.”
About half an hour later, the chief of the police station personally came over, with a mild expression. “Young lady, are you scared? Don’t worry, we’ll definitely punish those who hurt you.”
Estelle smiled faintly and nodded.
The chief personally escorted her out the door, saying many comforting words, afraid that his own people had said something harsh to scare her.
Millard was waiting for her outside the police station and took her out, speaking respectfully, “Mr. Lamont is waiting for you in the car.” “Thank you.” Estelle said gratefully.
“You’re welcome.”
When Estelle got in the car, Jonathan was making a phone call. His expression was unclear in the dim light, and his tone was sharp, “It’s definitely not a coincidence, find out who’s behind this.”
“I want to know the result. Before tomorrow night, ”
After hanging up the phone, the man held her hand and looked at her face expressionlessly, “Are you scared?”
Estelle suddenly wanted to lean on his shoulder, and so she did, resting her forehead against his neck and laughing, “No, just a little hungry.”
Jonathan seemed to chuckle lightly, his voice softening in an instant, “I’ll take you to dinner.”
“Mhm.”
Estelle wasn’t scared, and even seemed more at ease.
Jonathan took her to a private restaurant in an alleyway. It looked like a small courtyard from the outside.
As they entered, the faint aroma of alcohol and soft laughter drifted out from the front building, instantly making people feel relaxed and happy.
Jonathan held her hand all the way, leading her through the winding corridors. Estelle looked at the tall figure of the man and gradually losing herself in a trance.
The dim light gave her the illusion that they’d known each other in their past lives. He’d held her hand like this, walking with her from past to this lifetime. She smiled silently.
The two of them entered the private room, and the atmosphere was quiet. Estelle’s heart suddenly became very calm.
A female owner brought in coffee, greeted Jonathan enthusiastically, “Haven’t seen you here in a while, is she your girlfriend?”
The woman looked to be in her forties, wearing a light blue blouse. She looked at Estelle with a gentle expression and laughed sincerely, “She’s so beautiful!”
Jonathan didn’t deny or admit, but simply smiled and asked, “Where’s Mr. Gould?”
‘He’s in the back, stewing soup. He insisted on watching it himself. I think it’s about ready. You two can try it later.”
“Alright, just order some other dishes for us, Esteile likes sweet and spicy food,” said Jonathan.
The woman looked at Estelle and smiled, “No problem, i’ll personally make a few dishes, I’m sure the young lady will like them.” After a few more small talk, the woman left with a smile.
