Emily immediately called Charlie. The call was picked up after two rings. It seemed like Charlie was at a social event, as the sound of a bustling crowd could be heard through the phone.

Hearing no response from Emily, Charlie asked sternly, “What is it?”

Emily quickly composed herself and said, “Can I change my position? I’d be fine with being an engineering assistant like before!”

Charlie laughed lightly. “Have a top graduate from Metropolitan University as an assistant? Isn’t that a waste of talent?”

“I don’t mind.”

“But I do!” Charlie’s voice was cold. “All you need to do is follow my instructions. You’re not in a position to negotiate with me!” Emily immediately turned pale. She fell silent

Charlie could almost imagine her expression and started to feel imitated. He said coldly, “I’m hanging up!”

Emily felt utterly troubled How she wished she could call him back and reject him! But she never had the courage Whatever. She had already been through so much in the past two years, what’s a little more?
