Estelle stopped, shaking her head, “The place we’re living in now is close to the hospital. So Emily can take care of her mother.”
“Emily’s mom is about to be discharged, then we can move back.”
Estelle held her ground, “I want to live with Emily to help her care for Kya.”
Jonathan couldn’t argue with that. Given Emily’s current situation, it was impossible for her to stay at Charlie’s place like she used to.
Jonathan frowned, his eyes showing his helplessness.
Freddy and Cindy returned to their room from the restaurant. After taking a shower, Cindy nestled in Freddy’s arms, “I’m sorry, I just wanted to say hi to Marina. I didn’t expect her to be so angry.”
Freddy tried to comfort her, “Ignore her. From now on, steer clear of her when you see her. She’s being completely unreasonable. I must’ve been blind to date her back then.”
Cindy, still in his arms, asked, “You guys were together for a year. Do you really not like her anymore?”
“I never really liked her. I was forced to be with her by my father, who wanted to expand his business through her family’s connections, Freddy scoffed.
“Will your family accept me?” Cindy asked worriedly.
Her family was not wealthy, and although Freddy’s family was not prominent or prestigious, they were at least richer than hers.
“Of course!” Freddy hugged Cindy tightly, deeply inhaling her scent, and kissed her neck, “No matter what they think, me liking you is enough!”
Just as they were about to head to bed, the room phone rang. It was a call from the front desk.
Freddy answered the call with a hint of impatience, “What’s up?”
The lady at the front desk sweetly said, “Is this Freddy? We have a soccer game tomorrow morning in the park. All guests can participate. If you’re interested, you can sign up now. The winning team will receive a prize of five million dollars.”
“Five million dollars?” Freddy was a bit surprised.
Win a game and get a five million dollar prize? The park’s owner was really generous.
“Would you like to participate?” the front desk staff asked with a smile.
Freddy was tempted. Ever since he broke up with Marina and got together with Cindy, his father got angry and froze some of his accounts. He was very strict with his finances and Freddy was indeed short on cash,
“Go for it!” Cindy encouraged him.
Freddy nodded, and said to the front desk, “Okay, I’ll participate. Do I need to come down to sign up now?”
“Sure, we look forward to your participation.” The front desk lady’s tone was even sweeter.
Freddy hung up and excitedly headed downstairs with Cindy.
There were many people signing up. Freddy filled out the form and a liability waiver, and asked, “When does the game
start?”
The front desk replied, “There are many people signing up. We need half an hour to select the teams. We’ll notify you in half an hour, and you can stroll around the park in the meantime.”
Cindy was a bit disappointed, “So, we might be chosen, or we might not, right?”
The front desk smiled and replied, “That’s right!”
The two lost their enthusiasm and left the front desk, returning to their room to wait for news.
Half an hour flew by quickly. Freddy received a message from the front desk. He was selected as a team member, and he also received the list of participants in his team.
