Three hours later, Gwen finally had some downtime, only to find that Rena had called her four times.
She called back and asked, “Rena, what’s up?”
Rena replied, “I initially wanted to ask about your progress with KING, but you didn’t pick up Just now, the party organizers asked if we needed them to provide gowns, and I said no, your gown was personally designed by KING. They were pretty gobsmacked, even said they’d give you more camera time!”
On hearing this, Gwen frowned. “I haven’t even reached out to KING yet, why on earth did you put that out there?”
Rena explained, “Didn’t you mention your friend is a designer at Snowy Studios? She could lend a hand, right?”
Gwen looked miffed, “Rena, could you please check with me before making decisions next time!”
Rena knew she messed up and didn’t dare to say more, only asking, “What do we do now? The party organizers might use this for publicity, and the press will definitely ask about it”
Darcey brought over a glass of water just as Gwen was feeling agitated. Gwen shoved the glass away, snapping at Rena, “I’ll figure something out!”
Darcey, drenched didn’t dare to speak, only murmuring, “It’s all Estelle’s fault. She must be jealous of you, that’s why she doesn’t want to help!”
Gwen would definitely not go begging Estelle again. She pondered for a while, had a sudden brainwave, immediately whipped out her phone, and dialed a number from her
contacts
On the other end of the line, Gwen smiled sweetly, “Is this Ms. Harriet?”
“Gwen?” Harriet’s voice was gentle and elegant, “What can do for you?”
“Well, I’ve been invited to a charity event and thought I could use this opportunity for some brand promotion. But I’ve worn all my previous gowns, so I need a new one. Could you possibly send over the one I wore for filming?” Gwen asked gently.
The gown that Estelle had borrowed previously was designed by KING, but it was returned after that scene was shot.
Gwen thought, if she wore that gown to the event, she could confidently say it was designed by KING when asked.
That wouldn’t be lying. After all, KING wouldn’t jump out and say
the
gown wasn’t their design.
As far as she knew, KING never appeared in public, so she could attend the event at ease, and enjoy everyone’s attention.
Harriet seemed to consider for a moment, then said lightly after a few seconds, “No problem, I’ll have someone deliver the gown to you in the next couple of days.” “That’s fantastic, thank you. I assure you GK would steal the limelight at the event!” Gwen said excitedly.
Harriet chuckled, “It’s a win–win, no need for thanks!”
After hanging up, Gwen immediately called Rena and told her the problem was solved.
Upon hearing her solution, Rena lavished praise, “Gwen, you’re always the problem–solver! Even the haughty Harriet had to give in to you! Not only are you beautiful, you’re also very smart!”
Gwen listened to Rena’s enthusiastic praise with a smile, feeling rather pleased.
And so, the next day, Harriet sent over the gown to Gwen’s agent.
That night, after getting off work, Gwen immediately tried on the gown.
Seeing Gwen looking even more ravishing in the magnificent gown, Rena’s eyes sparkled with joy, “Gwen, I guarantee you’ll be the belle of the ball! Just wait for the press to sing your praises and your fans to scream!”
Gwen twirled in front of the full–length mirror in the gown, already imagining herself on the red carpet, basking in the flash of cameras and compliments.
At the charity gala on Saturday night.
