Manley stepped up to Estelle, looking her dead in the eye, “What’s this marriage agreement he was talking about?”
Estelle let out a long sigh, turned around and plopped down on the couch, I was married to Jonathan
Manley’s eyes bugged out, “Since when?”
Estelle explained the whole Macclain and Lamont family saga to Manley.
Manley knew that she was the long-lost daughter of the Macclain family, but had no idea about her connection with Jonathan Laughing coldly, he said, “What’s Jonathan playing at? He’s all cozy with Gwen but expect you to stay single?”
Estelle grabbed a pillow and hugged it to her chest, feeling irritable, “Two years ago, I gave him the marriage agreement to tell him I wanted a divorce. I thought he would’ve taken care of it by now
She turned to Manley, “So, stay out of this. Things between us are already messy enough.”
“That is more fun!” Manley said coldly, “I’m going to stick around and drive that bastard Jonathan crazy!”
Estelle played with the USB in her hand, ignoring him.
Jonathan wants both you and Gwen. Aren’t you going to do something?” Manley frowned.
“No” Estelle’s voice was firm, Tm not going back to him!”
Manley sat next to her, cupping her face in his hand, his black earring glistening, “Remember what you said today. You’re not allowed to be with him, see him or talk
to him.”
Estelle frowned. “Oh, there’s something I need to tell you”
“What?”
“I’m tutoring at the Lamont’s over the weekend.
Manley roared, “Estelle, have you lost your mind!”
Estelle found this very serious, but she couldn’t help but laugh, burying her face into the pillow and giggling.
“You’re still laughing? Have you forgotten how he treated you?” Manley was furious, “You still like him, don’t you?”
“No, I swear it has nothing to do with him!” Estelle stifled her laughter, “I can explain!”
“I don’t want to hear your explanation. If Jonathan messes with you again, I’m not stepping in!”
Manley cursed and stormed off. He took a few steps, then suddenly tumed back to Estelle, “You’re not stopping me?”
Estelle lay sprawled on the couch, looking at Manley sideways without a smile, “Manley, don’t fall for me. Let’s be best friends. If you’re in trouble, I have your back”
‘”Shut up!”
Manley rushed back, staring her down. “Say that again and I’ll take you right here!”
Estelle responded calmly, “You can’t beat me!”
Manley felt utterly insulted!
