Chapter 30 

Now… there was no better word to describe her predicament than “pathetic“! 

Tears streamed down her face as she fled the scene! 

The crowd of staring people made Charles feel very uncomfortable. 

“Don’t make such a big deal out of things the next time you want to see me!” he said to Shauna quietly. “Isn’t this fine?” Shauna could not care less! 

“Do you know how much stress this will cause me?” Charles asked, annoyed. 

“Stress can act as a motivator. Why don’t you publicly announce our relationship?” Shauna suggested as. she grinned. 

“Can you be a little more reserved? You’re the campus belle!” Charles had the urge to knock her head. “No need to be reserved when it’s someone you like!” Shauna smiled, a devilish and gleeful smile on her face. 

Who would have imagined that Jonestown University’s campus belle… was this adorable. 

Although she had caused Charles stress by taking the initiative to meet him… there were still some benefits to it! For example… no one dared mock Charles now. 

Was there anyone who would dare look down on someone who had managed to woo the campus belle? In comparison, Peter, who had stolen his ex–girlfriend from him, was a walking joke. 

Thus, Charles did feel grateful toward Shauna. 

“Mr. Duncan, we will quit our jobs if you continue refusing to listen to our reports!” Deidre called Charles after his classes ended in the afternoon. 

Charles held the most shares in the company, but he had no interest in the company’s affairs… It was unbelievable. Deidre and Rue had to threaten him with their resignation before Charles begrudgingly headed to Jonestown Bay Grand Hotel where the reports would be shared. 

“Excuse me, can you do me a favor?” A gorgeous–looking girl immediately went up to Charles when he entered the building. 

Charles gave her a once–over. If he were to rate the girl on a scale of one to ten, she would have scored 9.5 and above… Her body and looks were just a little less good–looking than those of Jonestown University’s campus belle. 

Why had she approached Charles? 

Was she like Shauna, trying to suck up to him because she knew he was rich? 

“What favor?” Charles asked. 

“Go to a room with me!” the girl answered. 

“Go to a room?” Charles‘ eyes widened. Did such amazing things actually exist? 

He was not a saint. Naturally, this was what he had been looking for. 

“Sure!” Charles followed the girl and took the lift up to room 302 on the eighth floor. The girl knocked on the door.

A thick gust of smoke billowed from the room… Both Charles and the girl immediately backed away, coughing. 

In the dim light, Charles could make out the shape of two fleshy men smoking! 

A middle–aged woman had opened the door for them, and one could tell from the gloomy look on her face that she was not good news. 

‘Is this a badger game?‘ Charles immediately thought to himself. 

“That’s not right! People usually enter a room before they knock on the door if it were a badger game. Things are happening in reverse now!” 

Charles had no idea what was going on, but he was not worried. After all, this was his turf. Anyone who dared play the badger game on him probably had a death wish. 

“What the hell, Julia Zimmer? I told you to come here so we could discuss the script. Why did you bring a guy with you?” a roar rang out from the room. 

The roar came from one of the fleshy men. 

“I should be the one asking you that question, Director Hayes! You insisted on discussing the script in a hotel room, and you have another man with you as well… What on earth are you trying to do?!” the girl replied angrily. 

The fleshy man was stunned by that question, and it took him some time before he said awkwardly, “This is our investor, Nicholas Yates. Mr. Yates invested fifty million dollars in our project. He wanted to tag along because he’s not too confident in you being the female lead!”
