lan’s eyes were a bit misty at the moment, his lips too. Their kiss was so passionate that the friction between their lips left them both a bit flushed.
He pushed the door open with one hand, looking down at her from above, his eyes filled with a hint of grievance.
“Aren’t you a Solstice College grad? Don’t you know what this means? A man teased by a woman and then left hanging. It could seriously mess with my mind! If I can’t have kids in the future, it’s all your fault!”
Right now, all Maja could think was: How can this guy have such a thick face!?
Maja was shocked. She sneakily glanced at his lower body, only to find nothing unusual there.
lan leaned against the door frame, his eyes closed, looking as if he was leaving the decision up to her.
He seemed so calm, yet so brazen.
Maja couldn’t help but wonder if he really had a physical issue.
If he did, Grandpa Holden would definitely intervene.
Once Grandpa Holden asked about it, lan, being the shameless guy he was, would definitely pin the blame on her.
And that would be a responsibility bigger than any other.
She couldn’t bear it all. She swallowed hard.
“lan, how do you know there’s something wrong with you?”
She stopped calling him Mr. Raymond and called him by his first name.
lan’s eyelashes fluttered slightly, his eyes slowly opening.
Maja’s face was filled with worry, apparently really fooled by him.
But then she thought, his pants were clearly bulging just now, and they’d deflated so quickly. It did seem like there was something wrong with him.
“lan, maybe we should go to the hospital.” Maja was really unsure.
lan couldn’t describe what he was feeling. He was just teasing her, but she was so naive about these things.
He felt a sweet bitterness in his heart.
He had thought she was an experienced woman, but she was just too innocent.
“Maja.” He was supposed to be fooling her, but seeing her face made him feel embarrassed at first, so he looked away.
“The night you slept with me was your first time, wasn’t it?”
He thought she had had flings with other men, but seeing her anxiety and ignorant worry, he wished he could slap himself for being so wrong.
He had won her but kept hurting her and belittling her with such nonsense.
Maja didn’t say anything. She was no longer concerned about relationships between men and women. All she could think about was what to do if something really happened to lan.
“It doesn’t matter. Wait here, I’ll change, and then I’ll take you to the hospital.”
With that, she closed the door.
lan stood outside the door, feeling both sweet and helpless.
A few minutes later, Maja came out dressed, grabbed his sleeve and started walking forward.
lan stopped, “Wait, I need to change too.”
He was still in his pajamas.
“Hurry up then.”
Maja anxiously glanced at the time, worrying if it got too late, there might not be any specialists at the hospital.
She stood at the door of the master bedroom, waiting for half an hour, but lan didn’t come out.
She frowned and couldn’t resist opening the door.
But he was lying on the bed, his suit neatly placed to one side.
Maja walked up and gently nudged his shoulder, “lan?”
lan had been busy abroad these past few days, hardly sleeping. He had come home and didn’t even have time to adjust to the time difference before they went to the party. Now, he was obviously too tired even to open his eyes.
“lan, didn’t we agree to go to the hospital?”
Before she could finish, lan pulled her tightly into his arms.
“I’m really tired. I hardly slept at all these past few days abroad. Can we go to the hospital tomorrow morning?”
Maja looked up and noticed the deep, dark circles under his eyes.
He was obviously so tired, yet he still managed to be flippant.
Maja was the type of person who responded better to a soft approach than a hard one. If lan was tough on her, she might fight back. But if he showed a vulnerable side, she would instantly soften.
She tried to remove his hand, but he held her even tighter.
“Maja, really missed you.”
As he said this, his breathing became shallow yet rapid.
As Maja stared at the ceiling, she wondered if it was the hormones talking. When he expressed his longing for her despite his tiredness, her heart rate increased, and her palms even started to sweat.
