The online controversy was escalating, with the Casson family getting tangled up in it. Plus, with the whole Selena drama, no one from the Casson family had reached out to her, which was kind of weird.
Seeing her mood getting better, lan shamelessly seized the opportunity to suck up to her.
“You should head home early tonight.”
With that, he shot a glance at Jeff.
Getting the hint, Jeff took over the conversation.
“Boss, you’ve got to attend the company meeting. Dennis has been a bit edgy recently. Plus, you’ve lost 10 percent of your shares. I’m kind of worried he might rally others to take a shot at you. That could potentially.”
Maja, in the middle of changing shoes, paused at the remark.
“How on earth did he lose 10 percent of his shares?”
Finally, they got to the crux of the matter.
lan didn’t respond, but Jeff did in his stead.
“Due to the whole Ms. Connie situation, the rest of the Raymond family blamed you. Plus, after Ms. Casson’s incident, both she and Ms. Raymond pointed fingers at you. Ms. Connie is Dennis’s daughter. To quell the issue, the boss voluntarily transferred 10 percent of Raymond Corporation shares.”
Ten percent of Raymond Corporation shares! That’s no small potatoes!
Maja was momentarily speechless. Why hadn’t she heard of this before?
She was even struggling to believe it.
Jeff quickly produced some documents.
“These are the share transfer agreements the boss signed. The shares have been transferred to the other members of the Raymond family. The boss used to hold 55 percent of the shares, having control over the Raymond family. Now that 10 percent has been transferred, if Dennis manages to rally others, the boss’s position in Raymond Corporation might.”
Before he could finish, Maja snatched the contract and scrutinized it.
Indeed, it was a share transfer agreement.
She turned to lan, fuming, and asked, “Have you lost your mind? Do you understand what 10 percent of the shares stand for?”
lan stood by the entrance, noticing Jeff had already dismissed the rest.
In a blink, it was just him and Maja left.
Maja had never heard of his share transfer, so one could only imagine her shock.
lan leaned back slightly, his hands casually resting on the cabinet by the door.
“Is the share transfer the reason Grandpa Holden gave you a whipping?”
He nodded.
A pang of guilt hit Maja. Did she now owe lan a massive favor?
She had initially intended to kick him out, but now she lost the nerve. She could only rub her temples.
“Just take care of your injuries for now.”
lan seized the moment, speaking tenderly, “No more tantrums, okay? I promised I would only treat you well.”
Maja tried to shake him off, only to receive a peck on her cheek.
“Remember to come home early.”
His words were reminiscent of a husband reminding his wife before she left.
Maja was at a loss for words. She was, after all, the one indebted.
As she opened the door to leave, lan wrapped his arms around her from behind and said, “If you don’t come back, I can wait all night.”
She originally planned to spend the night at Carol’s. Since lan wanted to stay, why not let him have his way?
She didn’t expect him to see through her plan.
Suddenly, lan pushed her against the cabinet with a forceful kiss that left her gasping.
Maja tried to turn her head, only for him to shower her neck with kisses.
“Stop.”
Her breathing was getting irregular, and her hands were bracing against the cabinet.
