Feeling a sudden softness in his heart, he avoided her gaze and said, “Come in.”
Maja, fearing he might change his mind, quickly followed him into his room
There was an additional desk in the room, on which sat a running computer and a stack of files needing to be dealt with.
lan seemed to be constantly busy, even bringing a host of files with him on his business trip.
Only then did Maja realize that his selection as successor might not only be due to his talent but also his hard work.
Not everyone is naturally cut out for this job or able to shoulder this responsibility
Choosing not to approach the computer desk, Maja settled for a random chair.
lan went to the desk, opened the files, and continued his review with a pen in hand.
While working, he seemed even more stern, emitting an air that didn’t tolerate interruptions.
Maja watched his silhouette against the light, the glow seemingly piercing through him, casting a hazy shadow on the floor..
Her fingers were itching to sketch him.
The scene deeply attracted her the light, the silhouette, the air all intertwined.
The pain in her stomach seemed less significant.
She was so captivated until someone knocked on the door, and lan said, “Come In.”
Jeff came in with a few dishes. Noticing Maja, he hesitated a bit before continuing towards them
“Boss, eat something first. You have a meeting at 8 that lasts an hour and another overseas meeting at 9:30.”
lan put down his work, noticing there was only one set of utensils on the table. “Bring another set
Maja didn’t wait for lan’s Invitation. She was so hungry that just smelling the food made her stomach growl.
Just as she sat down, her stomach made an untimely rumble, making her feel highly embarrassed
lan heard it naturally and chuckled.
Although he didn’t say anything, Maja felt mortified and wished she could hide somewhere.i
Jeff quietly left the room.
The food on the table was very light, which was suitable for Maja’s current condition.
She didn’t dare to bother lan to serve her soup. Just as she was about to get up to serve herself, she saw lan’s handsome hands scoop up a bowl of soup and place it in front of her.
Maja was stunned. Maybe because her mood was so low today, she didn’t know how to respond to his kindness, so she instinctively looked up at him.
lan’s action had been casual, but seeing the gratitude reflected in her eyes softened his heart once again. He couldn’t explain this feeling.
“Start eating.”
Maja finally snapped back to reality and quickly took a spoonful of soup.
Just one sip and her stomach felt warm.
Although the dishes were light, it was clear that they were specifically prepared for lan, with all the ingredients being very fresh.
The exhaustion accumulated throughout the day momentarily dissipated.
Maja didn’t have a large appetite, but she still ate a lot.
Just as she finished eating, she heard lan’s phone, which was placed aside, start to ring.)
Seeing the flashing name on the phone, his brows furrowed slightly before he pressed the answer button.
“Grandpa.”
“lan, I’ll probably be in Greenfield in about two days. You must pick me up with your wife, got it?
lan instinctively wanted to refuse, but thinking of his grandfather’s health, he hesitated before saying,
“Grandpa, I’m currently on a business trip and I’m not sure if I can make it back in two days. You can just let her pick you up.”
His grandpa coughed a few times, ‘No, you must come together and make sure to have dinner with me in the evening.”
lan took a deep breath. It was just a meal. Even if he had a very bad impression of that woman, who could avoid acting now?
“Alright, I’ll go with her.”
His grandpa laughed at his quick agreement and decided to give Mrs. Raymond a call as well.
After hanging up, lan immediately lost his appetite and rubbed his temples.
Maja had basically heard everything from the side. Grandpa was coming back, and meeting him was inevitable.
Because lan was decent to her tonight, she even considered revealing her identity.
“Mr. Raymond, actually I am…”
