Chapter 748 

Maja was stuck in a corner, lightly banging her head against the wall, just mechanically repeating that action. 

The guy feared those creatures too, so he was a bit handicapped. He quickly moved towards Maja, planning to get her out of there. 

He grabbed Maja and she immediately shrieked, pushing him away with all her strength. 

She didn’t have an understanding of what was happening in front of her, she just had one thought in her mind: get the hell out of there. 

Anywhere would do if it wasn’t that room. 

The guy was knocked down by Maja, landing on a few snakes, and freaked out, screaming his head off. 

Maja seemed to snap out of it suddenly, she lunged at him, smashing his head into the floor with all her might. 

The guy’s vision blurred, and he passed out right then and there. 

She got up and started to walk out, but her stomach was cramping from not eating all day. 

There was nobody outside, Selena had led everyone else laway to make it easier for the bodyguards, which actually gave Maja an opportunity. 

She kept walking down this path, tripping and falling a few times. 

She was so scared she didn’t dare to make a sound, and she tumbled from the fortress down to the garden path of a villa, then a pair of leather shoes came into 

view. 

Beck was a bit surprised to see the woman in front of him. 

“Penny?” 

Maja reached out a hand, carefully grabbing the corner of his trousers. 

“Help me!” 

With that, she passed out. 

Beck had come to visit Raymond Mansion today because Selena had invited him. 

The Sanders family was very powerful, his father wanted him to stay in Greenfield for a while and establish good relations with the nobles here. 

This was Beck’s forte, even though he didn’t know what his father’s real intentions were, since his dad had given the orders, he could only follow them. 

Selena had thrown a tea party yesterday and organized a small gathering today, saying there would be a surprise. 

Selena was ruthless, if Maja and the bodyguard showed any affection, she could easily catch them in the act. Maja would then be screwed as she wouldn’t be able to have a future in Greenfield any longer. 

And now, Selena would definitely say Maja was a nutcase, only a nutcase would have an affair with a bodyguard in her ex–mother–in–law’s villa, no one would argue with that at the time. 

A wave of anger surged in Beck’s heart; he saw through the Raymond family’s scheme in an instant. 

He had his people clean up Maja and had them pretend that she was a drunk guest being escorted out. 

And just like that, Maja vanished from Raymond Mansion without a trace. 

While Selena was still in the hall greeting everyone, Beck also went inside the hall to avoid suspicion. 

There were a lot of people in the hall, Selena said there was a surprise, and everyone followed her to that room. 

But the chaos they were expecting didn’t happen. 

Selena’s brows furrowed, she had originally planned to ruin Maja’s reputation within a couple of days, and after catching her in an inappropriate relationship with a bodyguard, she would then reveal to everyone that Maja was Lillian’s daughter and by the way, tell everyone that Lillian used to be Steve’s lover. That way everyone would have a common enemy. 

But now Maja was gone, and the bodyguard was nowhere to be seen. 

She called for other bodyguards, quietly asking about Maja’s whereabouts, but no one knew where she was. 

Selena’s face turned sour in an instant. 

She shouted, “You all just let her slip away right under your noses?” 

She pushed open the door, finding another bodyguard passed out on the floor. 

And the people waiting outside the room were still curiously asking, “Ms. Casson, what surprise do you have for us?” 

Selena took a deep breath, seething with rage, she had missed such a golden opportunity. 

She had to come up with another excuse. 

She said, “I wanted to share a painting with everyone.” 

To keep everyone calm, she had someone bring out the famous painting. 

There was only one original in the world, and it had never been exhibited before, it could indeed match the surprise she mentioned earlier. 

Only Beck understood what this woman had originally planned to show. 

She was such a sly fox. 

If he was a relative of Maja’s, he would never let her have anything to do with the Raymond family in the future. 

What would have happened to Maja if she hadn’t somehow encountered him? 

He didn’t even want to think about it!
