She finally got it. Tonight wasn’t about Holden wanting to talk to her, and it was Selena’s revenge.
Selena kept going.
“When she married my son three years ago, he was so disgusted with her that he stayed abroad for three years and never returned.”
As soon as this topic came up, the other women on the scene began to whisper.

Now everyone understood. Selena held this party just to humiliate Maja.”
Their view of Maja instantly changed. It was one thing to rise from a commoner to the upper class, but to keep clinging shamelessly after being abandoned by her husband?
Selena had a great influence on these ladies, and with her explanations, the discussions–became more and more intense.
Actually, high society life was no different than common people’s. The complexity of human nature was the same, and it’s just that they were all very rich, with more money than they can spend.
They had their children early, their lives were fulfilled, and the last thing they wanted was someone disrupting their families.
And Selena was very good at manipulating this group’s mindset.
“I told her a long time ago that my son has someone he likes; it’s impossible with her, and lan has always been rejecting her, but Maja wouldn’t stop. I held this party today to show everyone this woman’s true colors. Those with sons at home, be careful. If Maja marries your son, she’ll turn your family upside down. My divorce with Steve also had her influence.”
When Selena finished, she looked at Maja again.
Tan told me explicitly he didn’t want that child. You have no right to carry his child.”
“Ms. Casson.”
Maja’s tone was calm, “Why connect your failed marriage with me? Isn’t the biggest problem with your divorce with Steve that he doesn’t love you? Now you’re blaming everything on me, and you don’t really think the others here believe your reason? They’re just saving your face, not wanting to expose your pretense. But this lady wasn’t of high status. As soon as she finished her sentence, Selena gave her a cold look.
She was so scared that she immediately shut up.
