lan played it cool during the day, but now he was suddenly asking everyone to take a hike and enjoy the whole restaurant to himself.
Maja didn’t get his drift, so she trudged over.
“Fitch told me you’re married?”
All of lan’s pals knew he had called it quits with his wife, but they had no clue Maja was his ex. So in Fitch’s eyes, Penny was still a married lady. “I’m divorced.”
lan raised an eyebrow, “Why’d you split?”
“Mr. Raymond, that’s none of your beeswax. I really need to hit the road.”
As she finished her sentence, her gaze landed on something about lan that made her cringe.
Was he really that homy all the time?!
lan made no bones about it, his gaze roving over her.
“I want you to be my secretary, no strings attached.”
Maja stiffened up, of course, there were strings.
Although he didn’t spell it out, lan’s demand for her affection was a given, and she couldn’t say no.

In the privacy of the car, Maja breathed a sigh of relief.

Maja’s cheeks instantly turned beet red, she had never done this before.
She wanted to create some distance, but lan held her tight.
She opened her mouth but couldn’t say a word.
lan suddenly looked up at her and asked, “You’ve never done this before?”

He had no memory of it, but he couldn’t help but be attracted to her shy and troubled expression.
