“Got any skills besides chasing guys?”
lan stood aside, one hand in his pocket, with an indifferent gaze sweeping across Maja.
Maja’s face went cold instantly.
“Mr. Raymond, who I chase after is my business. How does that affect you?”
lan felt a lump in his chest, a sense of irritation bubbling up.
Especially seeing her beautiful face/discussing chasing men without any inhibition, his fingers couldn’t help but tremble.
“I’m just concerned about my former secretary, is that wrong?”
“I’ve been fired by you. Are you still concerned about a stranger’s private life?”
Maja thought this man was strange. She was about to get into her car when she noticed a tire pressure warning. She frowned, got out to inspect, and found a flat
tire.
She was in a villa area where it was impossible to hail a cab.
Maja took a deep breath, called the auto repair company, gave them the address, and walked away.
lan leisurely got into the car and saw Maja walking ahead.
“Honk honk!”
lan honked twice, startling Maja.
lan’s car stopped in front of her, the window rolled down, and he drove slowly, matching her pace.
“It’s about a kilometer from here to where you can hail a cab. You’re too slow.”
He didn’t invite her to get in, just left her with that remark, then sped away, leaving her in a cloud of exhaust and embarrassment.
Maja was fuming.
Such a hopeless man! Even if all the men in the world disappeared, she would never like lan!
Just as she was thinking this, the car slowly backed up.
“Get in.” lan’s cold face glanced at her.
Maja ignored him and kept walking.
lan’s hand casually rested on the steering wheel, his wrist showcasing an expensive watch instead of the agilawood bracelet. It made his wrist look slender, his bones prominent.
Despite her anger, Maja continued to walk in her high heels.
lan’s car stopped. He saw a touch of tenderness in her retreating figure.
He didn’t drive again. He rubbed his temples, his head aching from sudden thoughts, his face turning pale.
Half an hour later, Maja finally hailed a cab.
Back at Rosewood Manor, she was still upset and uncomfortable.
She took a deep breath, went upstairs, and painted a picture, planning to give it to Beck the next time she saw him as a return gift.”
After finishing the painting, Maja’s anger subsided a bit.
By evening, someone had contacted her. It was a girl with a tiny voice, a student of Nolan’s.
Maja was surprised that Beck’s words were so effective. Just a few hours later, Nolan had arranged for a student..
“Ms. Penny, can we meet?”
Maja was eager, needing a script badly. She left her painting to dry and prepared to meet the student.
Meanwhile, lan arrived at a restaurant. Across from him was Fitch Haskins, who’d called him several times, but he hadn’t shown up.
After observing him for a while, Fitch poured him a glass of white wine and asked, “Really can’t remember?”
lan couldn’t recall the man in front of him. He turned his head slightly, only to see Maja in the distance with a girl who looked a bit nervous.
The restaurant was high–end, with a crystal chandelier casting a golden glow. The window was one–way, allowing him to see outside but not the other way around.
lan watched as Maja got out of the car. The girl with her had thick bangs, ordinary braided hair, and thick glasses.
Maja was speaking to her gently, her sparkling eyes full of smile.
Fitch also saw this, couldn’t help but ask, “Really can’t remember? You look at Penny the same way as before.”
“What’s the matter?” lan turned his gaze back.
“Your gazes look like you want to rush over to her. I’m curious, is Penny’s appearance that attractive to you?”
Fitch was originally seeking lan to discuss Eric Raymond, but now he doubted if lan could even remember who Eric was.
Perhaps due to Fitch’s words, lan downed the white wine, his body heating up.
Blurry images flashed in his mind.
Warm water running down bodies, a man passionately kissing a woman against the wall, as if she were a delicious treat.
lan’s head throbbed, the image disappearing in an instant.
He didn’t even see the faces of the two entangled figures in the image, but his body heated up in that instant.
