lan took two hits. Noticing Holden was still coughing, and he immediately patted his back.
“You gotta take care of yourself, man.”
Holden’s body stiffened instantly, and he slammed his cane to the ground with a thud, sighing, “Get lost, just get lost.”
He’s been pissed off a lot tonight, and just stepped away from passing out.
lan moved to leave, but Holden lightly poked him in the back with his cane.
“That thing about your brother, if you can figure it out, great. If not, leave it be. The living ones always matter most. Your Mom and Grandma’s hearts are just biased.”
lan nodded, then repeated his words.
“Grandpa, you should take care of yourself more.”
“Why do you think I want you to marry Maja? She doesn’t have those complex thoughts. After marrying you, she’ll be true to you. You need someone by your side.”
Otherwise, he wouldn’t rest easy even in death.
lan furrowed his brows, knowing that Holden was preparing for the worst.
“Grandpa, I should find someone I truly like.”
‘Does she like you?”
Holden was just asking casually but noticed lan falling silent.
After a while, he said, “I’m not quite sure what liking someone really means. From my childhood till now, nobody’s taught me that, right?”
From Selena, he learned madness.
From Steve Raymond, he learned obsession.
In the army, he learned how to survive, but nobody taught him what it means to like someone.
Holden didn’t say anything else, just waved his hand dismissively.
When lan got back to the car, Maja calmly stepped on the gas.
The atmosphere in the car was awkward. He took out a cigarette to smoke but put it back thinking, she was there.
“Penny.”
It was a red light at that moment. Maja responded and turned to look at him.
He asked, “What do you think of my personality?”
His expression had already lost the desolation he had when he just left the old house, one hand propped on the window frame.
Tough, domineering, not gentle to women, vengeful.
Those were what Maja wanted to say, but if she did, he’d get pissed.
“Mr. Raymond is quite nice.”
lan knew she was just fobbing him off. This woman seemed obedient but was actually very stubborn.
“Really? What’s so good about me?”
“Rich, handsome.”
These were the most obvious pros, but what else?
She couldn’t think of anything now, so she pretended to focus on driving.
Upon reaching the hotel, she parked the car and pressed the elevator up button for lan.
Jan pulled her into the elevator, “What’s the rush? Nobody is waiting for you at home.”
Maja was dragged directly into his arms, noticing he pressed the button for their floor.
“Make the bed for me, and you’ll have to work overtime with me later. You think being a secretary is a cakewalk?”
Until they entered the room, he took off his suit, hung it on the coat rack nearby, and instructed her.
“Someone’s coming to pick up the clothes later. Remember to hand it over.”
Maja nodded, watching him go into the glass–covered bathroom.
In a while, his suit pants were also handed out.
His beautiful hands were still wet, and with the slow opening of the door, steam drifted out.
Maja was about to take the clothes when she heard him ask, “Can agilawood touch water?”
Maja wasn’t sure, so she quickly searched for it on her phone.
“Mr. Raymond, it can’t.”
So lan handed out the bracelet.
Maja took it, folded the suit jacket and pants neatly, put them in the bag, and then wiped the surface of the bracelet with a paper towel.
Ten minutes later, there was a knock on the door. She handed out the bag.
Just as she closed the door, lan called from inside, “Go get my clean pajamas from the wardrobe in the bedroom.”
She hurried to the bedroom, opened the wardrobe, and found his wardrobe was very neat. Apparently someone came to tidy it up every day, and there were several sets of robes, all of top–quality fabric.
She brought a black set over and lightly knocked on the bathroom door.
As soon as the door opened, she handed in the clothes, but the next second, the man’s wrist grabbed her hand, pulling her in.
Hot water splashed all over in an instant. She was somewhat unable to see clearly, only feeling a misty blur.
Then someone kissed her lips. The bathroom mirror was foggy from the hot water running for a long time.
She was pressed against the wall, unable to move, even with hot water pouring down from above.
Her lips and tongue were passionately pursued in such an environment, her heart was pounding unbearably.
Just as she was running out of breath, lan let her go.
Maja opened her eyes, seeing his chiselled face, his hair casually combed back, revealing his handsome brows and eyes.
“If you don’t get out now, I won’t be able to control myself.”
Maja’s hand trembled slightly, she immediately walked out, but he added, “Get another set of pajamas.”
Because she was still holding the wet set she was supposed to give him.
