Chapter 610
Maja quickly squeezed through the crowd, using her purse to smack Carlene in the head.
Stunned momentarily, Carlene retaliated by lunging at Maja, aiming for her throat.
Maja was confused as hell, and she didn’t get why Carlene was so heated..
Luckily, the mall security arrived just in time.
Maja kept her composure, whereas Carlene was a hot mess, her eyes shooting daggers at Maja.
Meanwhile, on the mall’s second floor, a man stood on the spacious balcony with a cocky smirk on his face. Resting his chin on one hand and gripping the railing, he asked, “Are all Greenfield women this feisty?”
There was a sparkle in his eye that seemed to outshine the brightest stars, but his true feelings were hidden.
A composed man standing next to him warned, “My flight is about to take off, don’t make trouble for me here.”
“When have I ever been a bother?” he retorted.
“You know damn well what I’m talking about. Cut ties with these complicated women. I don’t want to see your scandals in the news.”
Beck Sanders sighed, eyes still fixed on the scene below.
“Got it.”
The composed man didn’t respond. He just turned and walked away.
Beck’s eyes sparkled with amusement, catching Carlene’s gaze below.
Carlene froze. Was that Beck?
What on earth was Beck doing in Greenfield?
She was in the middle of a spat with Maja, but the sight of Beck made stopped her in her tracks.
She quickly composed herself, shooting Maja a look of disdain.
This pitiful woman probably doesn’t even know who Beck is!
With a sneer, she tucked her hair behind her ear and said, “Maja, I can’t be bothered with you today.”
Before she could finish, Maja slapped her across the face.
Carlene touched her cheek in disbelief.
Maja had held a grudge against Carlene for a long time, and Carlene’s taunts over anonymous calls had only added fuel to the fire.
“Ms. Shepard, actually, I do want to deal with you today. Your family is quite busy lately. Isn’t it? Sure, lan said he’d invest three billion, but without a contract, anything can happen.”
Carlene was fuming, but she couldn’t lose face in front of Beck Sanders, North America’s most infamous playboy from a prominent family.
Maja’s words hit her where it hurt. If the Raymond Corporation didn’t invest, the Shepard family could go bankrupt.
Now the Shepard family was already struggling, all depending on lan’s promise.
She glanced up at Beck again. He was still standing there.
Beck’s looks were popular throughout North America, and his ex–girlfriends were on a never–ending list.
In the past, Carlene had briefly chatted with the Sanders family’s daughter overseas.
She was a spoiled brat with a bit of a temper.
But facing such a noble family, Carlene didn’t dare to voice her opinions.
She lowered her gaze to Maja.
Beck was watching, and she couldn’t afford to leave a wrong impression.
So, she had to swallow this insult.
She took a deep breath, put on a pitiful expression, and stormed off.
Maja was left perplexed. She’d thought Carlene would put up more of a fight.
Clutching the gift she got for lan, Maja left.
Meanwhile, in lan’s villa, Tyler received a message from a friend, “Why is Beck in Greenfield today?”
Everyone who travelled abroad knew Beck. Even lan had heard about his womanizing ways.
Tyler put down his phone, “The Sanders family’s movies are all blockbusters. It looks like the entertainment industry here is going to be shaken up. I heard they’re recruiting directors. No wonder the group chat was so lively tonight.”
lan immediately thought of what Phelps Herrington had mentioned before about the Sanders family’s daughter still being out there.
