lan grabbed the lukewarm water next to him and took a sip. 

“Carl Raymond and his son, they’re hotheads, they can’t keep their cool. That’s why he raised a loser like Lingery. On the other hand, Uncle Dennis Raymond and his family are still playing the waiting game. Who knows what they’re up to?” 

Fitch gave him a glance, and couldn’t help but remind him, “You used to come out of any situation unscathed, but this time you got badly hurt. It’s because you’ve got someone you care about. She could be your Achilles heel. Your enemies will find out soon enough. Ian, back when we were kids in the army, the drill sergeant taught us never to show our weaknesses. You seem to care too much about this woman.” 

So, Fitch gave Maja a long look that day. He had a hunch, that woman had to go. 

Folks from high society like them cannot get too hung up on love. 

But hurting that woman, while lan was head over heels for her could potentially ruin their friendship. 

Among them, Fitch was the one who could be ruthless. lan used to be just as ruthless. They were both like wolves. lan was the wolf that dared to charge, Fitch was the wolf that thought calmly. 

Fitch continued, “I’ve asked Penny, she doesn’t want a divorce, she’s even thinking about getting pregnant.” 

Truth be told, Fitch hadn’t asked but he said it to make lan give up on her. To put it simply, she didn’t belong in their world. 

As expected, lan’s face darkened. “You said she’s planning to have a baby?” 

“Yeah, in high society, they all urge to have children. It’s the same in common families, If a woman doesn’t have children, her position is unstable.” 

lan’s chest heaved. Seeing his reaction, Fitch knew he was doing the right thing. 

An unsuitable weakness needed to be nipped in the bud. Otherwise, it will be too late when it became an unbearable pain. 

lan’s vibe turned cold. 

After Fitch left, lan sat alone in his hospital room for half an hour. Then he decided to call Maja. 

Maja was already asleep, as recently she had been too busy with the Penny feather group’s business. She was exhausted. 

“Mr. Raymond,” she mumbled sleepily. 

“Come see me.” 

Maja glanced at the time. It was already eleven. 

“Mr. Raymond, how about I come to see you tomorrow?” 

“Now! Don’t forget who I got hurt for.” 

Maja was speechless. She reluctantly got out of bed and got dressed. She could just about stretch her hand and grip things but couldn’t exert too much force. She drove to the hospital by herself. 

When she got to lan’s hospital room, she felt a chill coming from the crack in the door. She shivered slightly. 

lan saw her come in and waved her over. As Maja approached, he grabbed her chin. He studied her face, feeling a strong urge to hurt her. 

“Mr. Raymond, it hurts.” 

“Does it?” 

He got out of bed, turned her around so she was facing away from him, and had her hold onto the hospital bed rail. 

Maja knew what he was up to as soon as she saw his stance. She started to struggle, “You haven’t fully recovered, let’s talk about this next time.” 

But lan had already lifted her dress, “You still owe me one. I get to decide when I want to use that.” 

Maja was still struggling, but when she heard him mention she still owed him one, she stopped struggling. 

lan held her waist and kissed her neck. When he felt her resistance disappear, he felt a pang of displeasure. It was as if she was hoping that this tenth time would be over quickly, so they would have no ties. 

He reined in his urges, suddenly calmed down, and helped fix her dress. 

Maja was confused, but then she heard him ask, “After these ten times, will you still sleep with me?” 

Maja didn’t answer. lan got the message. He lay back down on the bed, propped his hands behind his head, and looked at her casually, “Don’t want to be with me anymore?” 

“I’m already married.” 

“Can your husband satisfy you like I can?” 

Bandages peeked out from his hospital gown. He asked this nonchalantly, but his gaze was aggressive.
