Chapter 534
He clenched the steering wheel and stomped on the gas pedal in fury.
When he got back to the Raymond Corporation office, he called Carlene.
Carlene had returned to the Shepard family. She figured something might be off because Lingery was late. Plus, lan said he would investigate, so he might have found some clues about Lingery. So she immediately Informed Maureen.
Maureen has one son, Ryan Elston, who didn’t get involved in many of the Raymond family affairs. She was pretty chill about the family disputes. The thing she couldn’t stand the most was sibling rivalry.
Carlene was anxiously waiting for Lingery’s response. She was dying to know if she had been exposed.
But then, lan called.
Her heart skipped a beat, and she swallowed nervously.
“lan,” she answered.
Looking at the files in front of him, lan asked casually, “Did you put Lingery up to this?”
“lan, I…”
“You can’t take Penny’s assault too personally. Think hard about what my brother gave you and stop messing with her.”
Carlene almost passed out in anger, “She nearly ruined my face!”
“Didn’t you almost ruin her hand? Do you really think you’re better than her?” lan retorted.
Carlene was speechless, with fury in her eyes.
She realized she shouldn’t argue with lan; otherwise, there would be even less chance between them.
She held back her emotions, her mouth tasting like blood.
“I got it. I won’t hold her accountable for this.”
lan hung up.
Furious, Carlene threw her phone to the ground and smashed, everything in sight.
Her chest heaving, she called in her people immediately.
“Go look into that designer’s family background. I want to know everything! Including her workplace! How many family members she has! Who she’s married to! I want to know it all!”
She couldn’t stand it anymore!
If she couldn’t deal with that woman, she would start with her family, threatening them one by one!
She wouldn’t let anyone take lan away from her. He was the one she always wanted.
Plus, they were once a couple. How could she let other women intervene?
“Go! Now! I need to know her family situation by tomorrow!”
She kicked things around like a madwoman, scaring the bodyguards.
“Ms. Shepard, we’ll look into it right away.”
“Ahhhhh!”
Carlene slammed the vanity table like it was that woman’s body.
The woman that was taking lan’s wife’s place and had embarrassed her last time!
The woman that was shaking lan’s heart, and made her threatened and punished by lan!
She couldn’t accept it. She should be his beloved!
She was still throwing a tantrum when someone knocked on her door.
“Carlene, you should take the bidding documents more seriously tomorrow. We’re not sure if there are any unknown issues with that piece of land.”
Carlene glanced at the documents, “I see.”
“The Neilian Group is also bidding this time. Many people probably want to see you and Maja make a fool of yourselves. Lots of people have heard about your behavior last time. You must control your emotions when you face her again.”
Carlene took a deep breath. She wasn’t worried about Maja stealing lan, but she really disliked Penny!
“Mom, I’ll take this bid seriously.
Tess patted her on the shoulder, and said to her sincerely, “We’ve been planning for this land for a year. There can’t be any mistakes. By the way, has lan revealed any information about this land?”
“No.”
“If there’s an issue with the land, he would know. It’s best to ask him more since you’re going to marry him. He wouldn’t want his future wife to lose money.”
Carlene didn’t mention Penny yet because her relationship with lan was the reason she could stand firmly in the Raymond family and venture into the business world as a young business woman.
Over the years, being lan’s girlfriend had brought many benefits to the Shepard family, so they all had to listen to her.
Everyone in the Shepard family believed she could marry into the Raymond family.

Her mother thought the same.
Tess sighed as she looked at the mecs in the room.
“You can’t let lan see you like this. Besides, Edith prefers girls who are a bit more dignified.”
Carlene forced a smile, suppressing her anger.
“I know.”
After being sent to RosenGarden, Maja didn’t go in but took a cab to the hospital to check her hand.
Phelps examined her again.
“There’s no major issue, but be careful next time.”
He glanced at the medical record in his hand, which listed her name and age.
After Maja left, Phelps received a call from lan, asking him to check someone’s hand.
lan was concerned about Maja’s injury, given how important her hand was.
“Phelps, come to my hotel tonight. I’ll have her come to the hotel then.”
