Back in the day, Carlene never felt threatened, not even when lan got married. But this time, it was different the moment lan purposely chose this restaurant and sat next to Penny It gave her the jitters.
She didn’t want to admit it, but it seemed like lan really cared about this woman, otherwise, he wouldn’t go through all this trouble.
He probably hadn’t realized it yet.
Her nails were digging into the palm of her hand.
When she was dating lan, all he ever did was shower her with luxury gifts. He never took the initlative to hold her hand, let alone kiss her. She didn’t dare cross any boundaries, thinking he was into spiritual love or something like that.
But now, seeing how lan couldn’t keep his hands off Maja, the so–called spiritual love seemed like a sick joke.
Carlene had to act now. Mere damage to the woman’s fingers was not enough; she wanted to make sure she never saw the light of day again!
lan was utterly pleased with Maja’s response, and his demeanor softened.
“Get in my car.”
“Mr. Raymond, aren’t you driving Ms. Shepard home?”

He called Carlene. He had no clue that she was just a stone’s throw away, watching them get in the car.
“Carlene, you head back on your own; I’ve got stuff to do.”
Carlene was shaking, but she had to put on a brave face.
After all, even if she pitched a fit now, lan wouldn’t give a damn.
His heart was already leaning towards another, and her tantrums would only annoy him.
She needed to take it slow.
“Okay, lan.”
After hanging up, Carlene returned to the restaurant.
Only Nathan was left in the restaurant.
Nathan probably figured it out. lan seemed to be making moves on Maja.
No wonder lan was so hostile toward him. He must have known that he was Maja’s husband.
Carlene came back fuming and started to curse at Nathan.
“What’s your deal with Penny? That woman is seducing lan; she’s going to get what’s coming to her! You’re useless; your date gets snatched, and you don’t even make a peep. What kind of man are you? A wimp!”
After the rant, Carlene picked up her bag, scoffed, and said, “But you bringing her to this low-class restaurant is fitting; it’s all she deserves.”
Nathan didn’t retaliate. He knew he couldn’t mess with this woman, and given that she was upset with lan and didn’t dare confront him, she vented her frustration on Nathan.” Nathan had seen too much of this in his career, so he chose to play deaf.
Carlene stormed off, leaving Nathan sitting there, gripping his fork tightly.
He did have dignity, but what could he do against the likes of lan? Even if Maja was truly his wife, what could he do if a man like that wanted to snatch her away?
But Nathan never expected lan to do something like this..
Ian and Maja had arrived at the hotel.
Maja was angry at her own situation. She was being used by lan to this extent, yet she still didn’t have the courage to fight back.
She planned to endure three more encounters, and then she would have no reason to interact with him.

lan held her tight from behind, sighed, and asked, “Who’s better, me or your husband Nathan?”
Maja didn’t respond. She had seen the real lan, brutal yet childlike.
Indeed, lan was younger than her. She was already 24, while he wasn’t even 24 yet; he was a few months younger than her.
Holden once told her that fan had been in the army when he was in his teens and then went off to make a name for himself. Compared to the well–behaved Eric, lan was more like a free–spirited kid.
