But lan found himself feeling rather helpless.
Should he end her life?
He seemed to hesitate.
Looking at her firm face, he was about to kiss her again when he heard a male voice behind him.
“Penny.”
It was Nathan’s voice.
lan keenly noticed that upon hearing this voice, Maja’s body stiffened instantly, and she hurriedly broke free from him.
“Nathan?”
Maja called out and quickly moved towards Nathan.
Nathan glanced at her and then at lan. “Everything alright?”
He wasn’t sure what had happened, but Maja looked a bit off, and from his perspective, it seemed like she was just forced into something.

Nathan didn’t dare to offend lan, so he simply greeted him, “Mr. Raymond.”
lan’s tongue was in great pain. He had just been bitten by Penny, and it hurt to talk.
Maja proposed, “Nathan, let’s go.”
She wanted to rest. She had been worrying about her hand for the past few days and hadn’t been sleeping well.
Nathan nodded, ready to leave, but heard lan say, “Aren’t you curious about what she and I were doing just now?”
As her husband, didn’t he have any thoughts seeing her getting so close to another influential man?
A flicker of panic passed through Nathan’s eyes because he really didn’t know how to face lan.
He had realized some time ago that lan bore him some hostility..
But before he could respond, Maja stared at lan and calmly said,
“Mr. Raymond and I were just discussing Greenfield Gardens.” She smiled at lan and said, “We’re done talking now, Mr. Raymond. You can go meet your partners. Ms. Shepard is waiting for you too.”
lan wiped the corner of his mouth with his finger. The pain in his tongue was sharp like a needle. He looked at Maja and chuckled. “Indeed, our discussion was quite intense.”
Maja didn’t respond to this.
lan adjusted the cufflinks on his wrist and said, “Since your husband is here to pick you up, I’ll make a move first.”
“Take care, Mr. Raymond.”
As lan passed by her, he suddenly stopped.
“I don’t accept your offer of three million for three times. You need to explain your behavior tonight.”
lan turned to Nathan again, nodding politely.
But this last sentence was clearly a challenge to a man’s dignity.
If Nathan really was Maja’s husband, he should feel severely offended now.
But Nathan wasn’t, so he just felt embarrassed and awkward.
With long strides, lan left. The moment he walked away, his gaze turned cold.
Nathan proposed, “I’ve booked a nearby restaurant. Let’s go have a bite there.”
Maja nodded. She hadn’t eaten anything all day. “Alright, let’s go.”
Both of them ignored lan after that.
When lan returned to the venue, he changed into a new set of clothes in the room provided by Luis.
Those who witnessed this scene now had ambiguous expressions.
Someone like lan, being publicly humiliated by a woman and still being able to return calmly, looked like he had some special relationship with that woman. Everyone knew that woman, but she was Herbert’s disciple and lan’s interior designer. It seemed they were more than just acquaintances.
So, people at the venue started whispering.
“Did Carlene get dumped? lan clearly went after that designer just now, right?”
“He wanted to take a drink for her, but she didn’t appreciate it.”
“Look at Carlene’s face; it’s as black as the bottom of a pot.”
Carlene was clearly upset, almost on the verge of collapsing, but seeing lan coming back, she felt slightly better and hurriedly greeted him.
“Ian.” She pretended not to know about his relationship with Penny.
lan had already changed his clothes and was not in the mood to stay here.
Cadene, sticking by lan’s side, noticed that he was in a bad mood and radiating a cold aura.
She suggested, “Why don’t we go to a nearby restaurant for dinner? There’s only wine at the tasting. You haven’t eaten all afternoon, and you might get a stomachache later.” lan didn’t initially want to go, but thinking that Nathan and Maja might have gone for a meal, he agreed.
“Alright.”
lan drove off.
He was familiar with the surroundings but didn’t know which restaurant Nathan and Maja had gone to.
Luck was on his side, and he spotted them sitting by the window in a restaurant.
He parked his car
Carlene hadn’t seen the two yet, just noticing that it was a common restaurant, not even high end, which upset her.
She didn’t like dining in such restaurants because she doubted their hygiene. But lan had already gotten off the car and didn’t even wait for her, so Carlene had to follow. Walking into the restaurant, lan saw Nathan peeling shrimp for Maja with gloves on.
Just ten seconds ago, Nathan had said to Maja, “After all, you’re giving me three thousand dollars a month, peeling shrimp is the least I can do. I haven’t been of much help in Crystalbrook Valley recently, and I feel guilty taking the money”
He had put on gloves, and Maja was hungry, so she didn’t refuse.
Seeing this, lan felt a pang in his heart–an indescribable sourness.
Without hesitation, he sat down at the table next to Maja’s.
Maja was so engrossed in her food that she didn’t even notice lan
