Maja set aside her purchases, gave Coco’s head a good rub, and then headed back to Rosewood Manor.
Maria seemed to know Maja would be back tonight, asking if she wanted a late–night snack.
Truth be told, Maja loved Rosewood Manor. The place had a great vibe, and back in the day, they couldn’t buy this villa even with a fortune.
That showed how much Holden must have liked her to gift her this villa.
Maja shook her head. She wasn’t feeling peckish.
Back in her room, she opened the box hidden in her wardrobe.
A blank notebook, a letter, a ring.
The items were still there.
She had a gut feeling that those people might be after these items.
What else could they want from her?
Maja closed the box and looked at the pregnancy test she had just bought, feeling a wave of anxiety.
After ten minutes of mental preparation, she finally stepped into the bathroom.
The waiting was agony; each minute felt like an eternity.
She heard Maria knocking on her door, saying she had brought some milk.
“Miss Pennyfeather, you don’t look so hot. You need to get some rest.”
After drinking the milk, Maja went to the bathroom.
The pregnancy test showed two clear lines.
Maja felt her head spin, her pupils dilated instantly, and the item in her hand dropped to the floor.
Her mind felt like mush, and she didn’t know what to do.

She tossed the pregnancy test into the trash, walked back to her room like a zombie, and squatted by the bed.
This couldn’t be possible; she and lan were always careful.
She ran her hand through her hair, her eyes filled with confusion.
Maja sat by the bed until dawn.
When Maria came to call Maja for breakfast, heavy, dark circles hung under Maja’s eyes.
“Ms. Pennyfeather, I wanted to ask last night: has something happened?”
Maja shook her head, mechanically shoveling food into her mouth.
But she couldn’t eat.
It was unbelievable.
She was on the pill, and even if she forgot once, she couldn’t possibly be pregnant. She was very careful about that.
Now Maja was all over the place, distracted by everything.
Just after breakfast, Zoey called, saying she had prepared the list of personnel for promotion.
Maja needed to go to the office, but the unexpected pregnancy left her in a fog.
As soon as she left, Selena arrived.
“Where’s Maja!”
Recalling the news she saw yesterday, Selena was so mad that her scalp tingled.
She, Edith, and Carlene had been played by Maja!
Maja dared to fool them!
The woman had some nerve!
Selena took a deep breath and stormed upstairs.
Maria wasn’t fond of Selena either, but she hurriedly said, “Ms. Pennyfeather has left.”
“Get lost! Don’t think I don’t know you’re in cahoots with Maja!”
Selena and Edith now despised Maja! They were determined to kick her out of the Raymond family.
Maja had made them eat humble pie.
Selena stormed into Maja’s room, and seeing the skincare products on the vanity, she knocked them all off. The items crashed onto the floor with a loud
noise.
She then went into the bathroom, ready to smash all the bottles and jars, but her sharp eyes spotted something in the trash.
