For the next bit, lan was sorting through some work stuff while Maja whipped out her laptop, both of them keeping silent.
Two hours later, someone came knocking on their door, telling them it was time to hit the road.
lan first put down his laptop, didn’t give Maja a shout, and just took off on his own.
Maja got the message–she’d been left in the dust by lan.
But she couldn’t care less, because she didn’t really fancy going anyway.
She could hear the sound of a car engine starting up outside, and it seemed like someone was asking for her, but lan just said, “She’s feeling under the weather.”
This led to a deeper misunderstanding about her.
Maja remotely handled her company’s business and just sat there waiting for lan to return.
But up until three hours later, the car lan was in still hadn’t returned.
It was getting dark, and this darkness didn’t feel like a regular nightfall; it felt as if something was covering up the whole world.
Maja instantly realized that this was a tornado!

She quickly ran outside, but everyone else had already left. The villa was only left with a few servants who were totally clueless about the situation. She called lan, but no one picked up.
She instantly felt a wave of anxiety and quickly got into her car, driving towards a location mentioned by the person in charge!
At this time, lan was in the car on his way home, and looking at the unusual sky outside, everyone was a bit worried.
The person in charge also looked pretty serious.
“Looks like the tornado we haven’t seen in ten years is about to show up. Drive faster.”
Bob, the driver in front, was also really tense and fully focused on driving the car.
At this time, Maja’s car just missed them.
lan was always looking at documents and didn’t pay attention to his phone, so he didn’t notice the missed calls.
An hour later, they arrived at the villa.
The car was already covered in a thick layer of dust and sand.
Ian couldn’t stand it. He thought it was dirty, so he decided to go to his room and take a shower.
But when he realized that Maja wasn’t in the room, his brows furrowed, and he asked the staff.
“Where is she?”
“Mr. Raymond, the lady asked about your destination, then she went back to her room.”
lan quickly checked his phone, only to find a few missed calls.
He returned a call, and the other end picked up.
“Penny, where are you?”
At this point, Maja had already arrived at a small house in the location; it was pitch black, and the small house didn’t have a key; she couldn’t get in. As soon as she opened her mouth, she could taste sand.
“Mr. Raymond.”
“Where are you?”
lan’s face turned serious; he was getting a bit frustrated and tugged at his tie.
Maja coughed twice, but she didn’t hastily reveal her location; instead, she let out a sigh of relief,
“Good to know you’re safe, Mr. Raymond.”
“I’m asking where you are!”
lan suddenly became frantic. The person in charge just said that this tornado was going to be stronger than the one from ten years ago; it could even blow down trees. If she were outside right now, she would definitely be in great danger.
Maja was taken aback by lan’s frantic voice and quickly answered.
“I’m in Riverfield.”
Riverfieid was a place lan and his group had been to before. There’s a large beach there, and all they can see was the beach. There was only a small bungalow.
The bungalow was a warning point set up by the staff due to the previous tornado. They had just rested in the bungalow in the afternoon. The house was about 50 square meters and was very clean, but Maja didn’t have the key.
If she went to Riverfield now, she’d be completely exposed, and there would be nowhere to hide!
Jan cursed, took his phone, and left.
The few people in charge at Crystalbrook Valley were shocked to see him about to leave in his car.
“Mr. Raymond, you shouldn’t go out in this weather.”

lan took the keys, leaving only a sentence: “You guys wait here; if anyone from the Raymond Corporation comes, wait until the tornado is over before starting the survey.”

He called Maja again, asking her to stay in the car and not get out.
